Men and women are equal. But this statement doesn’t hold good for india, because the female population here have extraordinarily hard skulls, maybe made out of steel or iron. That’s the only explanation that can be given for the exemption given to them from wearing helmets.
The bias exhibited by authorities in this case is mindboggling and strange.
Some will disagree with the above written statements saying that they do not need helmets because they ride slowly, safely and carefully. But I would retort to such an excuse by pointing out that reality shows like roadies and splitsvilla have inspired girls to ride two-wheelers in the same rash manner with full celerity. And most importantly the roads have become twice as dangerous for everyone with the tremendous increase in number of women drivers in recent years. So everyone needs a helmet. A guy riding pillion with a man needs a helmet but if a woman is riding pillion with the same man, she doesn’t need one. It is this abstruse behavior that riles me and baffles me no end.
Some female readers might perceive me as a male chauvinist with a parochial outlook, by my angst is not against the freedom of women’s heads. I do not wish to undermine womens’ status in any way .I am just a common man wishing for everyone’s safety ,especially those who are around ladies driving four wheelers ,whether it be a male or a female. What is the point of it all if you find your head split open like a water-melon one day, just because you refused to wear a helmet? All two-wheelers deserve respect inherently, just because they are two wheelers, because they are inherently far more risky that any other mode of travel and a little extra care would only save you unwanted medical bills and in some extreme cases, grief.
P.s: I only titled this article this way because I can’t stress this point in a way which is graphically more poignant.
