Recommendation 1 from ‘Foreign Policy’

Article Name:‘Will rising food prices have a global effect on employment and urbanization?’

By: ‘Thomas E Ricks’

The article states that as the food is getting expensive day by day, it will be better for the rural in the third world to stay in the farms than go out and look for work in the cities. This assumption is being based on the study of two Turkish economists who have observed that this trend has gone unnoticed for years. They have observed that over the last few years there has been an increase in agricultural employment in Turkey.

Summary:

Of course, even if the food prices increase with the population even then the requirement for food does not decline. This trend most have really gone unnoticed in the recent years that is why no one has been talking about it and everyone is still stalking about less jobs. Recommendation 2 from ‘The Times of India’

Article Name:‘A fair share’

By: ‘Editorial’

The article states that the call for women’s share in inherited property coming from Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind is welcome. However, the article states that this stands true across all communities and not just the Muslim community. Further, article points out that women should enjoy the same property rights as men do and in this regard cabinet has also passed a bill, which will allow the wife to claim half of husband’s property. This is a welcome move taking into consideration that women need to be empowered at the earliest.

Summary:

Giving equal property rights to women is an age old topic, which we all know is correct. Perhaps, that is the reason system of dowry began, as earlier there was no system of property rights for women. However, the point is there should be these rights, equally distributed over both the genders. Why discriminate? And moreover, its usually the women who suffer at the hands of tradition of the society.
