The first, second and third class fares between two stations were 10 : 8 : 3 and the number of first, second and third class passengers between the two stations in a day was 3 : 4 : 10. The sale of tickets to passengers running between two stations on that day was Rs. 8050. How much was realized by the sale of second class tickets?

The first, second and third class fares between two stations were 10 : 8 : 3
Therefore second class ticket ={(8 x4)/ 30+ 32+ 30} x 8050

A person distributes his pens among four friends A, B, C and D in the ratio 1/3 : 1/4 : 1/5 : 1/6. What isthe minimum number of pens that the person should have?

LCM of 3,4,5,6 is 60
Therefore
1/3 x 60 = 20
1/4 x 60 = 15
1/5 x 60 = 12
1/6 x 60 = 10
A, B, C and D in the ratio 1/3 : 1/4 : 1/5 : 1/6 = 20 : 15: 12: 10 So, the minimum number of pens that the person should have
= 20 + 15 + 12 + 10 = 57
