1. India Security Summit

  • The 12th edition of ‘India Security Summit’ was held in New Delhi.
  • Theme: ‘Towards New National Cyber Security Strategy’.

2. Angikaar Campaign

  • Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry has launched ‘Angikaar Campaign’.
  • ‘Angikaar campaign’ is aimed at bringing beneficiaries of PMAY into the other central schemes such as Ujjawala and Ayushman Bharat.
  • Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana is an initiative by Government of India in which affordable housing will be provided to the urban poor with a target of building 20 million affordable houses by 31 March 2022.

3. Waste Plastic to Diesel Plant

  • Indian Institute of Petroleum has set up a waste plastic to diesel plant in Dehradun.
  • It is a step towards ensuring freedom from plastic.
  • The Indian Institute of Petroleum, established in 1960, is one of the constituent laboratories of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, dedicated to R&D in the hydrocarbon sector.

4. Distinguished Fellowship of ‘Institute of Directors’-2019

  • Shashi Shanker was honoured with Distinguished Fellowship of Institute of Directors 2019 during 29th Institute of Directors Annual Day Ceremony held in New Delhi.
  • Shashi Shanker is the Chairman and Managing Director of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation.

5. We Care Film Festival

  • Indian documentary titled ‘I’m Jeeja’ has won the top award in the ‘Under 30 minute’ category at the We Care Film Festival on Disability Issues.
  • “I’m Jeeja” directed by Swati Chakraborty tells the story of disability activist Jeeja Ghosh who suffers from cerebral palsy. Through her story, the film attempts to explore the lives and battles of people living with the disability.

International News

1. Ferdinand Piech passes away

  • Ferdinand Piech was an Austrian business magnate, engineer and executive who was the chairman of the executive board of Volkswagen Group in 1993–2002 and the chairman of the supervisory board of Volkswagen Group in 2002–2015.
  • Volkswagen AG, known internationally as the Volkswagen Group, is a German multinational automotive manufacturing company headquartered in Wolfsburg, Lower Saxony, Germany and indirectly majority owned by the Austrian Porsche-Piëch family.

2. Bangladesh Government with Reliance Power

  • Bangladesh Government has signed an agreement with Reliance Power to set up a 750 MW gas-based power plant in Meghnahat, Dhaka.
  • Reliance Power Limited, formerly Reliance Energy Generation Limited is a part of the Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group. It was established to develop, construct, operate and maintain power projects in the Indian and international markets.

1. MSME Centralised Processing Centre

  • Indian Bank has opened ‘MSME CPC’, a centralised processing centre in Chennai.
  • Indian Bank is an Indian state-owned financial services company established in 1907 and headquartered in Chennai, India.

2. PUMA with NGO Goonj

  • PUMA has partnered with NGO Goonj to promotes the clothing as a basic but unaddressed need.
  • Goonj is a non-governmental organisation headquartered in Delhi, India which undertakes disaster relief, humanitarian aid and community development in parts of 23 states across India.
  • Goonj focuses on clothing as a basic but unaddressed need. It was founded in 1999 by Anshu Gupta.

3. New Coal India chairman

  • Pramod Agarwal has been appointed as the next chairman of Coal India replacing AK Jha.
  • Coal India Limited is an Indian state-controlled coal mining and refinery company headquartered in Kolkata, West Bengal, India and the largest coal-producing company in the world and a Maharatna company. The company contributes to around 82% of the coal production in India.

4. Central TB Division with Wadhwani Institute for Artificial Intelligence

  • Central TB Division of Health Ministry has signed an MoU with Wadhwani Institute for Artificial Intelligence.
  • Aim: Application of cutting-edge Artificial Intelligence technology in its fight against tuberculosis.
  • Tuberculosis is caused by bacteria that spread from person to person through microscopic droplets released into the air.

1. Senior Women’s National Football Championship

  • The 25th Senior Women’s National Football Championship will be held in Arunachal Pradesh.
  • Arunachal Pradesh : Capital: Itanagar || Chief minister: Pema Khandu || Governor: B. D. Mishra.

2. 2019 AIBA World Boxing Championships

  • The 2019 AIBA World Boxing Championships will be held in Yekaterinburg, Russia from September 7 to September 21, 2019.
  • The AIBA World Boxing Championships and the AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships are biennial amateur boxing competitions organised by the International Boxing Association (AIBA), which is the sport governing body.
  • India’s Mary Kom is the most successful boxer in women’s boxing having won 6 golds and a silver (From 2001 to 2018).
  • The championships was first held in 1974 Havana, Cuba as a men’s only event and the first women’s championships was held over 25 years later in 2001.
