7. Masquerade
• Pretend to be someone one is not.
Usage: A journalist masquerading as a man got lost in the crowd.
Synonyms: pretend to be, pose as, impersonate, and disguise oneself as.
• A masquerade ball is an event in which the participants attend in costume wearing a mask. Less formal “costume parties” may be a descendant of this tradition.

8. Inculcate
• Instil an idea, attitude, or habit by persistent instruction.
Usage: I tried to inculcate in my pupils an attitude of enquiry and curiosity.

9. Tenable
• Able to be maintained or defended against attack or objection.
Usage: Such a simplistic approach is no longer tenable.
Synonyms: defensible, justifiable, and defendable.

10. Walloping
• Large or powerful.
Usage: He cut me a walloping slice of cake.

11. Pernicious
• Having a harmful effect, especially in a gradual or subtle way.
Usage: The pernicious influences of the mass media.
Synonyms: harmful, damaging, and destructive.
