1. New Development Bank Appoints Dilma Rousseff as President
- Former President of Brazil, Dilma Vana Rousseff, has been designated the new President of the New Development Bank (NDB) effective immediately.
- Marcus Troyjo was the predecessor in the position.
- Rousseff held the position of President of the Federative Republic of Brazil from January 2011 until August 2016 and was elected for two successive terms.
- The NDB is a financial establishment initiated by the five nations of BRICS.

2. RBI Slaps Karur Vysya Bank with Rs 30 Lakh Fine
- Karur Vysya Bank has been penalized with a sum of Rs 30 lakh by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) due to regulatory infringements.
- The fine stemmed from the bank’s nonadherence to specific guidelines given by the RBI under the ‘Reserve Bank of India (Frauds Classification and reporting by commercial banks and select FIs) directions 2016’.
- The RBI utilized its authority as per Section 47 A(1) of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949 to levy this penalty.

3. Observance of the International Day for Remembrance of Slavery Victims: March 25
- The International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Slavery and the Transatlantic Slave Trade is commemorated annually on March 25. Its purpose is to shed light on the historical aspects of the transatlantic slave trade and to address its contemporary repercussions, including prevailing racism and prejudices.
- The theme for 2023 is “Fighting Slavery’s Legacy of Racism Through Transformative Education”.
- This observance day was inaugurated in 2007 through the endorsement of General Assembly resolution 62/122.

4. Intel’s Cofounder, Gordon Moore, Dies
- Gordon Moore, who cofounded Intel and established Moore’s Law, has died at 94 in Hawaii.
- Moore played a pivotal role in pioneering modern computational tools.
- He began his semiconductor endeavors in the 1950s and subsequently coestablished Intel Corporation in 1968.
- Moore’s legacy primarily revolves around “Moore’s law”, which he formulated, forecasting the progression rate of computer chip advancements, a principle that became foundational in understanding the rapid evolution in various technological domains.
