India to Facilitate First-Ever Focused Working Group Discussions on Antarctic Tourism
India will take a leading role in organizing the first focused discussions on regulating tourism in Antarctica during the 46th Antarctic Treaty Consultative Meeting (ATCM) and the 26th Meeting of the Committee for Environmental Protection (CEP). These meetings, hosted by the National Centre for Polar and Ocean Research (NCPOR) under the Ministry of Earth Sciences, and the Antarctic Treaty Secretariat, will be held in Kochi, Kerala, from May 20 to May 30, 2024. Over 350 delegates from nearly 40 countries are expected to participate.
