1. Tejas successfully test fires beyond visual range missile.

India’s Light Combat Aircraft, ‘Tejas’ demonstrated its Air-to-Air and Beyond-Visual-Range missile firing capabilitywith the successful test firing of the Derby missile.
The Derby BVR missile destroyed a maneuverable aerial target with pinpoint precision at the Interim Test Range in Odisha’s Chandipur.
The Derby firing is a major step towards clearing BVR capabilities on LCA aircraft for FOC.

2. Amitabh Bachchan has been appointed as WHO Goodwill Ambassador for Hepatitis.

Actor Amitabh Bachchan has been appointed as World Health Organisation’s Goodwill Ambassador for Hepatitis in South-East Asia Region.
He has been appointed to boost awareness and intensify action to stop the spread of hepatitis.

3. India’s first electric radio cabs fleet is coming to Nagpur.

Nagpur is set to become the country’s first city to get a fleet of electric cabs.
The pilot project will see around 200 electric cabs in Nagpur and the local body will also provide charging stations across the city.
To promote the usage of electric and hybrid cars in the country, the government of India had passed the FAME (Faster Adoption and
Manufacturing of Electric Vehicles) India scheme in 2015.

4. India ranks 26 in ease of getting electricity.

According to the rankings of the World Bank’s Ease of Doing Business index, India has moved up to the 26th spot in the global electricity accessibility.
India was at the 99th position in 2014, and jumped 73 ranks in 2016 to be at 26th position.
The government’s rural electrification program has contributed to the improvement.

1. Ransomware Cyber Attack.

A massive ransomware Cyber Attack dubbed WannaCry, targeted computers in 99 countries including India.
More than 57,000 attack have been detected so far cyber security firms Kaspersky and Avast have confirmed.
Russia was the worst hit country witnessing over 70% of the affected computers, while India was third on the list.

2. Brazil declares end to Zika emergency after fall in cases.

Brazil declared an end to its public health emergency over the Zika virus, 18 months after a surge in cases drew headlines around the world.
The mosquito borne virus wasn’t considered a major health threat until the 2015 outbreak revealed that Zika can lead to severe birth defects. One of those defects, microcephaly, causes babies to be born with skulls much smaller than expected.
World Health Organisation had lifted its own international emergency in November last year.

Dangal has become the second Indian movie after Baahubali 2 to reach the Rs. 1,000-crore worldwide earnings milestone.
Dangal already held record for highest grossing Hindi film of all time.

2. US nears $100 billion arms deal for Saudi Arabia.

US is close to completing a series of arms deals for Saudi Arabia totalling more than $100 billion a week ahead of President Donald Trump’s planned visit to Riyadh.
The United States has been the main supplier for most Saudi military needs, from F-15 fighter jets to command and control systems worth tens of billions of dollars in recent years.

1. VVS Laxman awarded honorary life membership of Marylebone Cricket Club.

Former India batsman V.V.S. Laxman has been elected an honorary life member of Marylebone Cricket Club.
Laxman joins Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and Sourav Ganguly as an honorary life member of MCC.
There are now more than 300 honorary life members of MCC out of a total full membership of 18,000.

2. Shikhar Dhawan third fastest Indian to reach 5,000 T20 runs.

ShikharDhawan became the third fastest Indian batsman to score 5,000 runs in T20 cricket, after reaching the landmark in SRH’s match against Gujarat Lions.
Only Virat Kohli and Suresh Raina have achieved the feat in fewer innings.
