1.India tops Asian Athletics Championship medals tally for 1st time.
- India bagged 29 medals including 12 Golds to top the tally at the Asian Athletics Championship for first time ever.
- Notably, who has dominated the event from 1983 up until last edition, finished 2nd with 20 medals including 10 golds.
2.Raminder Singh Re elected as president of NRAI.
- Raminder Singh Re elected as president of NRAI(National Rifles Association of India)
- The National Rifle Association of India is associated with International Shooting Sports Federation and Indian Olympic Association.
3.The first edition of WINGS 2017, expanding regional connectivity hosted in New Delhi.
- The first edition of WINGS 2017 “Sab Uden, Sab Juden” expanding regional connectivity hosted in New Delhi by the Civial Aviation Ministry.
- This event brought together the key stakeholders of the Aviation Sector such as States, Tourism Departments and Tour Operators as a Group representing airline consumers to facilitate interaction with various airlines, airport operators, cargo operators and other ecosystem players at a common forum.
4.SC lifts stay on admission to IITs over bonus mark issue.
- The Supreme Court lifted the stay it had put on counselling for admission in various engineering colleges, including IITs and NITs, over the bonus marks issue.
- It was lifted after authorities claimed it is not possible to revise the merit list.
International News
1. Grant citizenship to Myanmar Rohigya Minority : UN refugee Head
- The UN High commissioner for refugees Filippo Grandi has called for granting citizenship to Myanmar’s Muslim Rohingya minority.
- According to the UN, 75,000 Rohingya were forced to flee after Myanmar Army’s crackdown last year.
2.India, US, Japan navies 2017 Malabar Exercise begins.
- Malabar, The trilateral annual naval exercise by Indian, US and Japanese navy has started today amid the military standoff between armies of the India and China in Sikkim’s Doklam sector.
- The 21st edition of exercise began in Bay of Bangal.
- Interestingly, Japan become permanent partner of Malbar exercise in 2014.
3. India to import crude oil from US for first time.
- India will import crude oil from United States of America for the first time.
- This comes after IOC(Indian Oil Corporation) is set to receive Cargo in October 2017.
4. Army pitches tents in Sikkim, ‘Unlikely to Shrink back ‘
- The Indian Army soldiers deployed in Doklam region amid the standoff with China, have pitched tents in the region “unlikely to shrink back”.
- According to the officials, a steady line of supplies is being maintain for the soldiers at the site.
Business News
1 .Panel seeks details on Air India disinvestment decision
- A parliamentary panel has sought explanation on the reason behind Air India’s disinvestment decision from the Civil Aviation Ministry
- A group of Ministers, headed by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, would be looking into various aspects of Air India. Notably, Air India has a debt burden of more than Rs.52,000 crore.
2. India’s forex reserve at record high of $386.53 billion.
- According to the officials of RBI India’s forex reserve have increased by $4.007billion to touch a record high of $386.53.
- The components of India’s Foreign Exchange Reserves include Foreign currency assets (FCAs), Special Drawing Rights (SDRs), Gold and RBI’s Reserve position with International Monetary Fund (IMF).
- China has world’s largest foreign exchange reserve with $3,520.4,India ranks 7th in this list globally.
3. India to join Global Foreign Exchange Committee.
- India is all set up to join Global Foreign Exchange Committee(GFXC) .
- GFXC is a newly-constituted forum under Bank of International Settlement(BIS), includes central bankers and experts working towards promotion of a robust and transparent foreign exchange.

1. Mercedes’ Valtteri Bottas won Austraian Grand Prix 2017.
- Valtteri Bottas won the Austrian Grand Prix2017 for Mercedes.
- Ferrari’s Sebestian Vettel finished just behind Bottas to grab the second place.
2. Windies defeated India by 9 wickets in one-off T20I
- Windies defeated India by 9 wickets in the one-off T20I at Kingston.
- Windies’ Evin Lewis who scored 125* became third batsman to score two centuries in T20I cricket.
3.India’s Harinder Sandhu wins South Australian Squash championship.
- Indian squash player Harinder Sandhu won the South Australian Squash Championsip
- Sadnhu ranked 77th in the world, defeated Australian Rhys Dowling , who was playing his third final in a row.
