1. Maharashtra mandates drip irrigation for sugarcane crop.
- The Maharashtra government has mandated drip irrigation for Sugarcane crop cultivation after 2019 .
- Notably, government has announced the loan at an interest rate of 2% for Drip irrigation.
2.TR Zeliang appointed Nagaland CM.
- TR Zeliang former CM of Nagaland, has been appointed to the post again by the State’s governor PB Acharya.
- This comes after current CM Shurhozelie Liezietsu, and his supporters failed to turn up in the Assembly to face a floor test.
3.Gujarat government canteens to offer meals at Rs.10 to laborers.
- Pilot program of Gujarat government to offer meals to laborers for Rs.10 was launched by Vijay Rupani, under CM’s scheme ‘Shramik Antoday Yojana’.
- This meal will be served through 83 stalls at various labor markets.
4.Privacy is not absolute: SC
- Privacy is not absolute and cannot prevent the State from making laws imposing reasonable restrictions on citizens, said Supreme Court
- The ruling was given in examining a reference on the question whether privacy is sacred, fundamental and an inviolable right under the Constitution.
International News
1.China moves huge military hardware to Tibet amid standoff.
- The Chinese Army moved tens of thousands of tonnes of military hardware into the remote mountainous Tibet region after the standoff with Indian troops
- The military hardware was moved by Western Theatre Command – which oversees the restive regions of Xinjiang and Tibet, and handles border issues with India
2.Somalia back online after three weeks outage.
- Somalia’s internet has returned after an over three weeks outage which reportedly cost country’s economy $10 million a day in business.
- The lost of internet service attributed to ship which cut an undersea cable connecting the country to global data network.
3.Pak court begins hearings to decide Sharif’s future.
- Pakistan’s supreme court has begun hearing against Pak PM Nawaz Sharif on the Panama Papers.
- The court is expected to put Sharif on trial on corruption charges or disqualify him.
4. Indonesia banned Hizbut group that seeks global caliphate.
- The Indonesian government banned Hizbut Tahrir, an organisation that wants to establish a global caliphate, under a new presidential decree criticised as draconian by rights groups.
- The decree signed last week by President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo gives the government almost unfettered power to ban organisations deemed against the constitution and the official state ideology Pancasila.

1 .Air India’s stake sale is a win-win deal: Ashwani Lohani.
- In his first formal communication with employees over government’s disinvestment decision, Ashwani Lohani Chairman of Air India has assured the employees interest would be safeguarded.
- He has also written to employees, stating that a stake sale of debt-ridden carrier would be a win-win solution.
2.Reliance Jio seeks Zero interconnection user charge.
- Reliance Jio at odds with Airtel, Vodafone, Idea has proposed scrapping of interconnection user charge(IUC).
- Interestingly In a meeting with TRAI Airtel, Idea, Vodafone seek to double interconnection charge.
3. India among the fastest growing economy surpassing China.
- In its latest report about the economic health of the member countries World Bank ranked India at 4th place.
- According to World Bank India’s expected growth rate will be 7.2% in fiscal 2017.

1. Asian Games Gold Medalist fails dope test.
- Asian champion shot-putter Manpreet Kaur has been caught in the dope net after testing positive for a banned stimulant.
- she won a gold each in the Federation Cup, Asian Championships held at Orissa and the National Inter-State Championships which concluded at Guntur yesterday.
2.Indian Women looses to England by 1-4.
- Indian Women’s Hockey team suffered 1-4 loss in quarter final match against England in Women’s World Hockey League.
- India will next play the fifth to eighth place match on July 20.
