1. Mumbai Hospital gets machine that diagnoses HIV in 90 minutes

  • King Edward Memorial Hospital has got GeneXpert machine that diagnoses HIV faster against previously available technology which took 90 days.
  • The doctors say that contamination is lesser because of minimal human intervention.

2. 98.21% voter turnout for Vice Presidential election

  • 98.21% poll percentage was recorded in the voting to choose between NDA’s candidate M Venkaiah Naidu and Opposition’s nominee Gopalkrishna Gandhi.
  • 771 members casted their votes out of 785 members of the electoral college.

3. Bengaluru roads to have automated parking facility

  • BBMP will launch the facility at eighty five roads.
  • The facility will enable the motorists and bikers to find parking space via a mobile application and pay using smart cards.

4.Students send 100 feet long rakhi for Indian soldiers

  • UP students sent the rakhi made of coloured papers, clothes, lace and other decorative materials .
  • They made the rakhi to symbolise peace and harmony in the country

International News

1. US Senate confirms 3 Indian-Americans to Government posts

  • The three people are Neil Chatterjee, Vishal Amin and Krishna R Urs.
  • Chatterjee will serve as the member of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission while Amin and Urs were confirmed as the Intellectual Property Enforcement Coordinator and US Ambassador to Peru respectively.

2. Pakistan gets 1st full-time Foreign Minister since 2013

  • Khawaja Asif has been appointed as the new Pakistani Foreign Minister.
  • He earlier served as the Minister of Defence and Minister of Water and Power.

3. Harvard accused of discriminating against Indians and Asians

  • The complaint alleges racial discrimination against Asian-Americans in university’s admission policy.
  • This comes amid reports that Department of Justice sought to sue colleges for discriminating against white applicants.

4. 250 killed in Congo due to Ethnic-based massacres

  • In the Democratic Republic of Congo’s Kasai province, 250 people have been killed which includes 62 children.
  • Violence erupted in Kasai province last August after a traditional chief was killed in a military operation.

1. Infosys to buy London based digital studio

  • Infosys will buy Brilliant Basics for Rs.63 crore in an all-cash deal.
  • Brilliant Basics currently has digital studios in Bengaluru, Pune, New York, London and Melbourne.

2. IndusInd Bank crosses Rs.1 lakh crore

  • It became the sixth Indian bank whose market capitalisation crossed Rs.1 lakh crore
  • Shares of the bank have surged over 50.36% so far this year.

3. JPMorgan to pay Rs.29 crore for not giving correct reports

  • This is for allegedly failing to provide accurate screening reports.
  • The company also kept the consumers in dark about reporting disputes and application deadlines.

4. US weed firm buys town for USD 5 million dollars

  • American Green has acquired town of Nipton in California .
  • The company plans to invest USD 2.5 million dollars to create weed-friendly tourist destination.

1.Jadeja reaches 150 Test Wickets

  • Ravindra Jadeja has become the 2nd fastest Indian to reach 150 Test Wickets.
  • The 1st position is held by Ravichandran Ashwin.

2. Bolt wins 100m heats

  • Eight-time Olympic gold winner Usain Bolt won the 100m heats at the World Championships in London.
  • He registered a timing of 10.07 seconds.
