National News
1. Karntaka launches rescue wagon for mass casualties.
- Karntaka Transport Minister launched a mass casualty rescue wagon that is capable of transporting 20 patients in one go.
- The state transport busses which are converted into wagon contains 8 stretchers, oxygen tanks, and defibrillators among other equipments.
2. Air India museum to be opened in Mumbai.
- The Air India museum, which has been put on hold because of the airline’s losses will open in February in Mumbai.
- Apart from paintings of famous artists such as M F Hussain and VS Gaitonde the airline has a large collection of Indian aircrafts, wall hangings, stone carvings, antique rugs and textiles.
3. Andhra Government may provide pensions to transgender community.
- The Andhra Pradesh government is planning to provide pension to the transgender community to establish equality and a better standard of living for every citizen in the state.
- Notably, Odisha is the first state to provide a social welfare benefits such as pension to the transgender community in the state.
4. ISRO to launch backup navigation satellite on 31st August.
- ISRO has announced its next mission on August 31. The back-up navigation satellite, IRNSS-1H, will be launched from the Sriharikota launch centre just before 7 p.m. next week.
- The spacecraft weighing over 1400 kg is similar to the other seven that are already in orbit. It will be put in a geostationary orbit in space over 55 degrees East longitude on ISRO’s light-lifting PSLV rocket.
International News
1. We will never step back from our nuclear program: N Korea
- N Korea will never step back from the development of its “Self-Defensive” Nuclear and Ballistic missile program, a statement by N Korean diplomat.
- The diplomat also accused S Korea and US of using joint military drills to carry out an aggressive war scenario against N Korea.
2. N Korea caught twice shipping chemical weapons to Syria: UN.
- N Korea was intercepted twice in past six months shipping chemical weapons to a Syrian government agency responsible for country’s chemical weapons program.
- A UN panel is probing the reported cooperation between Syria and N Korea on chemical weapons, ballistic missile and conventional arms.
3. Need only 5 days to make Nuclear weapon grade uranium: Iran.
- Iran can resume production of highly enriched uranium within five days if the nuclear deal it struck with world powers in 2015 is revoked.
- The deal that Iranian President Hassan Rouhani championed with the United States, Russia, China and three European powers led to the lifting of most sanctions against Tehran in return for curbs on its nuclear program.
4. 8th World Renewable Energy Technology Congress held in New Delhi.
- 8th world Renewable Energy Technology Congress, an international conference and exhibition was held in New Delhi.
- The annual conference is visualized and planned in the backdrop of India’s vision of achieving “Energy Independence and Power for all by 2022”.

- Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba founder Jack Ma has become Asia’s richest person with net worth of USD 338.3bn.
- Jack MA is currently ranked as the world’s 18th richest man.
2. Railway board chairman Ashok Mittal resigns.
- Ashok Mittal, Chairman of the Railway Board submitted his resignation to Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu.
- His resignation comes in the wake of a number of high-profile accidents and derailments of the Indian Railways.
- Air India CMD Ashwin Lohani named as Railway Board Chairman.
- Mercedes Benz as a part of its #AMG50 years celebration in India has launched ‘Beast of the Green Hell’ in India.
- It comes with active rear wheel staring and nine way adjustable traction control system.
3. NITI Aayog launched ‘Mentor India’ Campaign.
- NITI Ayog launched the ‘Mentor India’ Campaign which is a strategic nation building initiative to engage leaders who can mentor students at more than 900 Atal Tinkering Labs.
- CEO NITI Aayog, Amitabh Kant unveiled the online nationwide initiative in New Delhi.
4. Mercedes Benz launches ‘Beast of the Green Hell’ in India.

1. Sardar Singh, Devendra Jhajharia to get Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award.
- Indian hockey team captain Sardar Singh and Paralympian Devendra Jhajharia will be honored with Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award.
- Paralympian Devendra Jhajharia has clinched Gold Medal in men’s F46 javelin throw at Rio Paralympics.
