1. Vigilance Awareness Week 2018
- Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) has started annual Vigilance Awareness Week till 3rd November, 2018.
- Theme :- ‘Eradicate Corruption-Build a New India’.
2. ‘Lokayan 18’ Voyage
- INS Tarangini has returned after Voyage ‘Lokayan 18’ across the World.
- ‘Lokayan 18’ was flagged off on 10 Apr 18 from Kochi. During the voyage, the ship has proudly ‘shown the flag’ and highlighted the diverse culture of India across 15 ports in 13 countries.
- The ship sailed across the Arabian Sea, Red Sea, Suez Canal, Mediterranean Sea, Strait of Gibraltar, North Atlantic Ocean, Bay of Biscay, English Channel and North Sea up to Norway before back to Kochi.
3. Gujarat Agro Mega Food Park
- Harsimrat Badal has inaugurated Gujarat’s first Mega Food Park in Surat.
- 2nd Park is sanctioned in Mehsana.
- Harsimrat Kaur Badal is the Union Cabinet Minister of Food Processing in the Government of India and member of parliament from Bathinda. She is a member of Shiromani Akali Dal.
4. ICGS Varuna
- Reliance Naval and Engineering (RNEL) has inducted a training ship for the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) named ‘ICGS Varuna’.

International News
1. Ireland’s New President
- Ireland’s leftwing president Michael D Higgins has been re-elected for a second seven-year term, promising to represent all of the country’s people in the largely ceremonial post.
- The 77-year-old veteran of the opposition Labour party, won a comprehensive victory against five challengers, securing almost 56 per cent of the vote.
2. Ntozake Shange passes away
- African American playwright Ntozake Shange has passed away at 71.
- Ntozake Shange was an American playwright and poet. As a Black feminist, she addressed issues relating to race and Black power in much of her work. Shange is best known for the Obie Award-winning play for coloured girls who have considered suicide / when the rainbow is enuf.
3. Angela Merkel to step down
- Angela Merkel will be stepping down as Germany’s chancellor in 2021 following recent election setbacks.

4. Satellite KhalifaSat
- It is United Arab Emirates’ first locally made satellite.
- It was launched by Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries.

1. Facebook’s Digital Literacy Library
- Facebook has launched Digital Literacy Library in 6 Indian languages:- Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.
- This was inducted at Facebook’s South Asia Safety Summit.
2. First Robotic Dinosaurs Gallery
- India’s First Robotic Dinosaurs Gallery has inaugurated in Kapurthala, Punjab.
- Chief minister: Amarinder Singh || Capital: Chandigarh || Governor: V.P. Singh Badnore
3. World’s first robot visa
- Robot Sophia has been granted the world’s first robot visa.
- Sophia is a social humanoid robot developed by Hong Kong-based company Hanson Robotics. Sophia has been covered by media around the globe and has participated in many high-profile interviews.

1. Australian MotoGP
- Maverick Vinales has won the Australian MotoGP.
- Maverick Viñales Ruiz is a Spanish Grand Prix motorcycle racer and former Moto3 world champion, taking the title in 2013. In 2015 he won the best rookie award in the MotoGP class.
2. Swiss Indoors title
- Rojer Federer has won his 9th Swiss Indoors title in Basel, Switzerland.
- He won his 99th career ATP Tour title
3. 2018 ITTF Belgium Open (Table Tennis)
- 2018 ITTF Belgium Open (Table Tennis) was held in De Haan, Belgium.
- Ayhika Mukherjee(India) won silver in the under-21 women’s singles.
- Anthony Amalraj and Sanil Shetty won bronze medal in the men’s doubles.
