This is a word for which we offer very little explanation: it simply refers to a type of BEER. That should be enough to drive the word into our memory.

Ale carries the following dictionary definitions:
1. A fermented alcoholic beverage containing malt and hops, similar to but heavier than beer.
2. A serving of this beverage.

Usage examples of Ale:
1. “The brewing process for the ale is the same, but just as the primary fermentation slows, the beer is transferred from the fermenter to a cask where it continues to ferment or condition.”- Long Island Beer Events
2. “Ale, man, ale’s the stuff to drink for fellows whom it hurts to think.” – A. E. Housman quotes (English Scholar and Poet, 1859-1936)
