1. More power to RBI to crack down on bank NPAs
• President Pranab Mukherjee has signed on an ordinance to amend the Banking Regulation Act of 1949
• The amendment will give RBI the power to issue directions to banks to recover dues from loan defaulters
• The total stressed assets in the banking system are estimated to be ₹14 lakh crore.
• The RBI is expected to issue issue guidelines within a week to banks on resolving their bad loan accounts in a specified time frame through various strategies.

2. Maharajas’ Express to run on two more routes.
• IRCTC’s luxury train Maharajas’ Express will run on two more routes from September.
• The packages named ‘Southern Sojourn’ and ‘Southern Jewels’ will cover destinations in west and south India.
• The Southern Sojourn will cover Goa, Hampi, Mysore, Ernakulum, Kumarakom and Thiruvananthapuram.
• The Southern Jewel will cover Chettinad, Mahabalipuram, Mysore Hampi and Goa.

3. ISRO successfully launches South Asia satellite
• ISRO successfully launched GSAT-9 also known as theSouth Asiasatellitefrom Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh
• The South Asia satellite is funded entirely by India, was announced several years ago with the intention of serving all eight members of the SAARC
• The satellite costs 235 crore
• It will provide communication, disaster management support, and connectivity to South Asian countries except Pakistan

4. Government launches Tarang Sanchar Web Portal to check radiation level
• Tarang Sanchar Web Portal will give information to the public regarding Electro Magnetic Fields (EMF) signals

3. Facebook launches its Express Wi-Fi commercially in India
• Facebook announced its partnership with Airtel to launch 20,000 new Express Wi-Fi by Facebook hotspots across the country
• This service is now available via 700 hotspots across four states – Uttarakhand, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Meghalaya.
