1. ‘Hindusthan Nirman Dal’ A New Political Party

  • Former Vishva Hindu Parishad leader Pravin Togadia has launched a political party named ‘Hindusthan Nirman Dal’.
  • Pravin Togadia is an Indian doctor and an advocate for Hindu nationalism. He was the former International Working President of the Vishva Hindu Parishad and a cancer surgeon by qualification.

2. Book ‘Law, Justice and Judicial Power – Justice P N Bhagwati’s Approach’

  • Written by Mool Chand Sharma
  • Launched by the Chief Justice of India, Shri Justice Ranjan Gogoi.
  • Justice Bhagwati is known as ‘father of public interest litigation in India’.

3. Cremica Food Park

  • Cremica Food Park is the 1st Mega Food Park of Himachal Pradesh.
  • It was inaugurated by Harsimrat Kaur Badal in Village Singhain ,Una District of Himachal Pradesh.

4. Asiatic Lion Conservation Project

  • Ministry of Environment has launched a 3-year Asiatic Lion Conservation Project in collaboration with Gujarat.
  • It has allocated Rs 59 crores, spans three years 2018-19, 2019-20 and 2020-21.
  • The Asiatic lion is a Panthera leo leo population in India. Its range is restricted to the Gir National Park and environs in the Indian state of Gujarat. On the IUCN Red List it is listed under its former scientific name Panthera leo persica as Endangered because of its small size and area of occupancy.
  • Asiatic lions are smaller than African lions and have shorter manes.

1. BAFTA Awards 2019

  • The 72nd British Academy of Film and Television Arts Awards ceremony (BAFTA Awards) 2018 was held at Royal Albert Hall, London, United Kingdom.
  • Best Film :- Roma
  • Best Director :- Alfonso Cuaron (Roma)
  • Best Actress :- Olivia Colman (The Favourite)
  • Best Actor :- Rami Malek (Bohemian Rhapsody)
  • ‘The Favourite’ by the director Yorgos Lanthimos has won seven BAFTAs.

2. World Government Summit 2019

  • The 7th Edition of World Government Summit 2019 has concluded in Dubai.
  • It is an annual event held in Dubai, UAE. It brings together leaders in government for a global dialogue about governmental process and policies with a focus on the issues of futurism, technology and innovation, as well as other topics.
  • Theme of World Government Summit 2019: The Year of Tolerance.

3. 2019 Grammy Awards

  • The 61st Annual Grammy Awards Ceremony was held at Staples Center in Los Angeles, USA.
  • Both ‘Song of the Year’ and ‘Record of the year’ was awarded to a rap song, ‘This is America’ from Childish Gambino.
  • Dolly Parton was conferred with the ‘MusiCares Person of the Year’.

  • A Grammy Award or Grammy, is an award presented by The Recording Academy to recognize achievements in the music industry.

4. Darwin Day

  • Darwin Day is a celebration to commemorate the birthday of Charles Darwin on 12 February 1809.
  • The day is used to highlight Darwin’s contributions to science and to promote science in general. Darwin Day is celebrated around the world.

1. NITI Aayog with Michael & Susan Dell Foundation

  • NITI Aayog and the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation have today signed a Statement of Intent to codify, document and share best practices to improve learning outcomes in public school education in India.
  • The Michael & Susan Dell Foundation was set up in 1999. Susan and Michael Dell have supported the foundation primarily through investing the proceeds of sales of shares of Dell Inc.

2. India-Norway Marine Pollution Initiative

3. PETROTECH-2019

  • The 13th International Oil and Gas Conference ‘PETROTECH-2019’ in Greater Noida has been concluded.
  • The PETROTECH series of International Oil & Gas Conference is a biennial platform for national and international experts in the oil & gas industry to exchange views and share knowledge, expertise, and experiences.

4. Institute of Advanced Virology (IAV), Thiruvananthapuram

  • Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan has inaugurated Institute of Advanced Virology in Thiruvananthapuram.
  • It is a first of its kind research institute that is linked to the Global Virus Network.
  • The Global Virus Network is an international coalition of medical virologists founded in 2011, and covering 24 countries in 2015. The Global Virus Network has grown to be a demanding and fundamental defence against any and all diseases of viral nature.

1. 2019 Laureus Sports Awards

  • Actor James Marsden will host the 2019 Laureus World Sports Awards here on February 18.
  • The Laureus World Sports Awards is an annual award ceremony honouring individuals and teams from the world of sports along with sporting achievements throughout the year. It was established in 1999 by Laureus Sport for Good Foundation founding patrons Daimler and Richemont and supported by its global partners Mercedes-Benz and IWC Schaffhausen.

2. National Team Chess Championship

  • Petroleum Sports Promotion Board (PSPB) retained the National Team Chess Championship crown.
  • It remains victorious in both the men’s and women’s categories.

3. Brand ambassador of Rajasthan Royals

  • Shane Warne has been named as the Brand ambassador of Rajasthan Royals for the upcoming IPL 2019.
  • The Rajasthan Royals are a cricket team in the Indian Premier League from the city of Jaipur. Founded in 2008 as one of the initial eight IPL franchises, the Royals are owned by Manoj Badale.
