2. Ground Water Act-2020

3. Wendell Rodricks passes away

  • Wendell Rodricks was an Indian fashion designer and author based in the western Indian region of Goa.
  • He was also an activist for social causes, the environment, and gay rights. In 2014, the Government of India conferred upon him its fourth-highest civilian award, the Padma Shri.

4. P. Parameswaran passes away

  • Parameswarji, was a Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sanghpracharak from Kerala, India who was erstwhile Vice‑President of the Jan Sangh.
  • He was president of Vivekananda Kendra, and has been conferred with Padma Vibhushan, India’s second highest civilian award, in 2018.

1. World Radio Day

  • World Radio Day 2020 will be held on Thursday 13 February around the world.
  • Theme: ‘Radio and diversity’
  • Following a request from the Spanish Radio Academy on 20 September 2010, Spain proposed that the UNESCO Executive Board include an agenda item on the proclamation of a World Radio Day. UNESCO’s Executive Board the agenda item in its provisional agenda for the proclamation of a “World Radio Day” on 29 September 2011.

2. World Unani Day

  • World Unani Day has observed every year on 11th February.
  • This day is celebrated every year to mark the birth anniversary of great Unani scholar and social reformer Hakim Ajmal Khan.

3. World’s oldest living man

  • Chitetsu Watanabe of Japan has been named as the world’s oldest living man at 112 years 344 days.

4. Covid-2019

  • World Health Organization has mentioned the official name for the disease caused by the new coronavirus is Covid-2019.

  • Italian motorcycle company Ducati appoints Bipul Chandra as Managing Director of India operations.
  • Ducati Motor Holding S.p.A. is the motorcycle-manufacturing division of Italian company Ducati, headquartered in Bologna, Italy. The company is owned by German automotive manufacturer Audi through its Italian subsidiary Lamborghini, which is in turn owned by the Volkswagen Group.

3. Prasar Bharati Chairman retires

  • PrasarBharati chairman A Surya Prakash has retired from his position.
  • PrasarBharati is India’s largest public broadcasting agency. It is a statutory autonomous body set up by an Act of Parliament and comprises the Doordarshan Television Network and All India Radio, which were earlier media units of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

1. FIH Women’s Rising Star of Year 2019

  • International Hockey Federation has named Indian striker Lalremsiami as 2019 FIH Women’s Rising Star of Year.
  • Lalremsiami is a Mizo Indian professional field hockey player who plays as a forward for the Indian national team. At the club level, she plays for Sports Authority of India. Lalremsiami was a part of the 18-member squad that represented India at the 2018 World Cup.
