  • Union Minister of Steel Dharmendra Pradhan has launched mission PURVODAYA for the development of eastern India through integrated steel hub in Kolkata, West Bengal.
  • Aim: To transform logistics and utility infrastructure which would change the socio-economic landscape in eastern India.

2. Chariot festival of the Suchindram Thanumalayan Temple

  • Famous chariot festival of Thanumalayan Temple has started at Suchindram, Tamil Nadu.
  • The Thanumalayan Temple, also called Sthanumalayan Temple is an important Hindu temple located in Suchindram in the Kanyakumari district of Tamil Nadu, India.

3. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Port

  • Kolkata Port Trust was renamed as Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Port on the occasion of 150th years celebration of Kolkata Port Trust.
  • Kolkata Port Trust is a riverine port in the city of Kolkata, India, located around 203 kilometres from the sea. It is the oldest operating port in India, and was constructed by the British East India Company.

  • Government of India has set a deadline for completion of the world’s highest railway bridge – Chenab bridge by 2021.
  • The Chenab railway bridge will be 35 metres taller than the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France.

  • HDFC Bank has launched myApps application to boost digital payments in India.
  • At present HDFC Bank is offering four types of applications — mySociety, myClub, myPrayer and myCity.

2. The Pulses Conclave 2020

3. Air Conditioners to have default temperature setting of 24 degrees celsius

  • Government has made mandatory the default temperature settings for room air conditioners at 24 degrees from January 1 2020.

4. National Strategy for Financial Inclusion

  • RBI has released a report ‘National Strategy for Financial Inclusion (NSFI): 2019-2024’ under the aegis of Financial Inclusion Advisory Committee (FIAC).
  • Aim: The National Strategy for Financial Inclusion 2019-2024 sets forth the vision and key objectives of the financial inclusion policies in India to help expand and sustain the financial inclusion process at the national level through a broad convergence of action involving all the stakeholders in the financial sector.
