2. National Women’s Day

  • National Women’s Day is observed on 13 February every year.
  • The day marks the birth anniversary of Sarojini Naidu.
  • Sarojini Naidu was an Indian political activist and poet. A proponent of civil rights, women’s emancipation, and anti-imperialistic ideas, she was an important figure in India’s struggle for independence from colonial rule. Naidu’s work as a poet earned her the sobriquet Nightingale of India.

3. National Workshop on e-office

  • National Workshop on e-office was inaugurated in New Delhi by Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Dr Jitendra Singh.
  • The Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions is a ministry of the Government of India in personnel matters specially issues concerning recruitment, training, career development, staff welfare as well as the post-retirement dispensation.

4. Largest air quality monitoring network of India

  • The largest air quality monitoring network of India will be installed in Mumbai.

1. COP13 UN Summit on conservation of migratory birds

  • Gandhinagar, Gujarat will host the 13th Conference of Parties (COP) of the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals.
  • It is an environmental treaty under the aegis of United Nations Environment Programme.
  • Theme: ‘Migratory species connect the planet and we welcome them home’

2. United Kingdom Finance Minister

  • British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has named Infosys Co-founder Narayana Murthy’s son-in-law Rishi Sunak as Finance Minister of United Kingdom.
  • Alok Sharma has been named as the new Business Minister by UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

3. BIMSTEC Disaster Management Exercise 2020

  • BIMSTEC Disaster Management Exercise 2020 has started in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.
  • The Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation is an international organisation of seven nations of South Asia and South East Asia, housing 1.5 billion people and having a combined gross domestic product of $3.5 trillion.

1. Joint venture between Mahindra & Mahindra and Ford Motor

  • The Competition Commission of India has approved a joint venture between Mahindra & Mahindra and Ford Motor.
  • With Mahindra acquiring majority stake in Ford India.
  • Mahindra & Mahindra would acquire 51% stake for ₹657 crore in Ardour Automotive, while the remaining 49% stake would be held by Ford Motor.
  • Competition Commission of India is a statutory body of the Government of India responsible for enforcing The Competition Act, 2002 throughout India and to prevent activities that have an appreciable adverse effect on competition in India. It was established on 14 October 2003.

2. ‘We Think Digital’ programme by Facebook

  • Facebook has launched ‘We Think Digital’ programme to provide digital literacy training to 1 lakh women.

3. New CEO of Tata Trusts

  • Tata Trusts has appointed Srinath Narasimhan as its first CEO.
  • Tata Trusts, which own 66% of Tata Sons, were handled by a managing trustee, along with 20 trustees.

4. Infosys’ new acquisition

  • Infosys will acquire Salesforce consulting company Simplus for $250 million.
  • Salesforce.com, Inc. is an American cloud-based software company headquartered in San Francisco, California. It provides customer-relationship management service and also sells a complementary suite of enterprise applications focused on customer service, marketing automation, analytics, and application development.
