1. VISITOR’S AWARDS, 2019

2. ‘PadMan’ Arunachalam Muruganathan

  • Arunachalam Muruganathan is the real ‘PadMan’ and a social entrepreneur.
  • Arunachalam Muruganantham is a social entrepreneur from Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu, India. He is the inventor of a low-cost sanitary pad-making machine and is credited for innovating grassroots mechanisms for generating awareness about traditional unhygienic practices around menstruation in rural India.

5. Hindi Diwas

  • Hindi Divas is an annual day celebrated on 14 September in India to celebrate Hindi as a popular language of India.
  • Hindi Divas is celebrated on 14 September, to commemorate the adoption of Hindi written in Devanagari script as one of the two official languages of the Republic of India by Constituent Assembly of India .

1. UN mission in Hodeidah

  • United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has appointed Lieutenant General Abhijit Guha (Retired) as the head of United Nations Mission in Hodeidah, Yemen.
  • The United Nations is an intergovernmental organization tasked with maintaining international peace and security, developing friendly relations among nations, achieving international co-operation, and being a centre for harmonizing the actions of nations.

2. Zayed II Order to Navdeep Singh Suri

  • India’s ambassador to United Arab Emirates, Navdeep Singh Suri has been conferred with Order of Zayed II.
  • The Order of Zayed is the United Arab Emirates’ highest civil decoration named after Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

3. New Member of International Solar Alliance

  • Saint Vincent and the Grenadines has become the 79th country to join India-led International Solar Alliance.
  • The International Solar Alliance is an alliance of more than 122 countries initiated by India, most of them being sunshine countries, which lie either completely or partly between the Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn.

1. International Finance Corporation with Finance Industry Development Council

  • International Finance Corporation has signed an MoU with Finance Industry Development Council (FIDC), India to collaborate on training of NBFCs.
  • Finance Industry Development Council is a representative body of asset and loan Financing NBFCs in India.
  • The International Finance Corporation is an international financial institution that offers investment, advisory, and asset-management services to encourage private-sector development in less developed countries. The IFC is a member of the World Bank Group and is headquartered in Washington DC.
