1. Aman Sehrawat Claims India’s First Gold at Asian Wrestling Championships
- Indian wrestler Aman Sehrawat secured India’s inaugural gold medal in the men’s 57 kg freestyle category at the 2023 Asian Wrestling Championships held in Astana, Kazakhstan.
- He triumphed over Kyrgyzstan’s Almaz Smanbekov with a score of 9-4.
- Among other Indian wrestlers, Deepak won bronze in the 79 kg category, while Deepak Nehra lost his bronze medal match.
- In addition to Aman’s victory, Indian women wrestlers won seven medals, and Greco-Roman wrestlers secured four medals.

2. IAF Participates in Multinational Exercise Orion in France
- An Indian Air Force contingent is actively participating in the multinational international Exercise Orion held at Mont-de-Marsan, France, from April 17 to May 5, 2023.
- The IAF Contingent, comprising four Rafale, two C-17, two ll-78 aircraft, and 165 air warriors, is partaking in this exercise.
- Importantly, this marks the first overseas exercise for the IAF’s Rafale aircraft.
- The exercise also features participation from several other countries, including France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Spain, and the United States of America.

3. India’s Ranking in World’s Most Criminal Countries List
- The World of Statistics has released a list ranking the world’s “most criminal countries.”
- Venezuela tops the list, followed by Papua New Guinea, Afghanistan, South Africa, Honduras, Trinidad, Guyana, Syria, Somalia, and Jamaica.
- India holds the 77th position on this list, with the USA at 55th and the UK at 65th in the ranking.
- In contrast, Turkey, Germany, and Japan are among the least criminal countries, ranking at 92nd, 100th, and 135th, respectively.
- The rankings are determined by dividing the total number of reported crimes by the population and then multiplying by 100,000 to calculate the overall crime rate.
