1. Delhi voters’ database integrated with national database

  • The database was integrated through an ERONET system to prevent issuance of multiple voter identity cards.
  • ERONET is a single database of all voters registered across India.

2. Knee implant costs slashed by up to 69%

  • The govt has capped the prices on orthopaedic knee replacement implants slashing their costs by up to 69%
  • The price of cobalt chromium knee implant would be capped at Rs.54,720+GST while titanium-zirconium implants would cost Rs.76000+GST.

3. Vehicles pass through waves of toxic foam

  • Toxic foam coming out of Bengaluru’s Bellandur Lake caused difficulty to citizens travelling on adjacent road.
  • The city’s fire department spewed water on the foam to contain the situation.

4. Delhi Airport gets a new police station

  • A new police station at Indira Gandhi International Airport has a conference room that can be converted to a war room in time of need.
  • This is the first ever hi-tech police station in Delhi.

International News

  1. Social media accounts of HBO, GoT hacked
  • The accounts were hacked by a hacking group named OurMine.
  • This comes after other hackers released Game of Thrones scripts and company data, demanding a ransom
  • Previously, OurMine hacked Twitter accounts of Sundar Pichai,Mark Zuckerburg and Jimmy Wales.

2. Britain rejects possibility of Irish border

  • Britain has said that it wants no physical border between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland as part of any Brexit deal.
  • A flexible approach was needed to come up with post-Brexit arrangements between the two countries that protects free movement of people and goods across the border.

3. US, Japan conduct military drills

  • The US and Japan conducted live-fire artillery and air drills in the Japanese island of Hokkaido and the East China Sea.
  • This comes amid tensions between the US and N Korea.

4. Women suicide bombers kill 27

  • Three suicide bombers blew themselves up in northeast Nigeria killing 27 people and injuring 83 others.
  • The area where the explosions happened has been a centre of conflict between government forces and militant group Boko Haram.

1. Shares of Capitec Bank jumped 50000% since 2002

  • South African lender Capitec specialises in providing loans that aren’t backed by assets .
  • It has expanded faster than the nation’s four biggest banks, adding 1.3 million customers in the last fiscal.

2. Berkshire Hathaway dumps entire stake in GE

  • Billionaire Warrant Buffet’s Berkshire Hathaway has dumped its entire stake in General Electric.
  • The firm had about 10.6 million shares remaining in the company.

3. Ubiquiti develops necklace camera

  • It streams videos live on Twitter, Facebook and YouTube.

4. Tencent sees quarterly profit of $2.7 biilion

  • China’s social media and games Giant Tencent sees highest ever quarterly profit due to peak in the mobile game revenues
  • Tencent’s overall quarterly revenue was recorded at $8 billion.

1. Real Madrid beat Barcelona

  • Real Madrid downed rivals Barcelona 5-1 on aggregate to win the Spanish Super Cup.
  • Marco Asensio scored two long-range goals while Messi scored Barcelona’s only goal.

2.Yuvraj and Raina failed Yo-Yo test

  • Yo-Yo test is considered the most important fitness test and both the cricketers scored below permissible level of 19.5.
  • Virat Kohli scored around 21 in the test.
