1. Additional Solicitor General in SC

  • President Kovind has appointed senior advocate Sanjay Jain as the Additional Solicitor General in the Supreme Court.
  • Additional Solicitor General of India abbreviated as ASG is a law officer of India and is the third ranking lawyer of the Government of India. The headquarters of Additional Solicitor-General may be at New Delhi or Mumbai or Chennai or Allahabad as the Government of India may specify from time to time. ASG is governed by Law Officers.

2. New Registrar General and Census Commissioner of India

  • Vivek Joshi has been appointed as the new Registrar General and Census Commissioner of India.
  • Registrar General and Census Commissioner of India, founded in 1961 by Government of India Ministry of Home Affairs, for arranging, conducting and analysing the results of the demographic surveys of India including Census of India and Linguistic Survey of India.

3. National Museum of Indian Cinema

  • PM Modi will inaugurate the National Museum of Indian Cinema (NMIC) in Mumbai.

4. Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Institute of Medical Sciences and Research

  • PM Modi has inaugurated Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Institute of Medical Sciences & Research in Ahmedabad.
  • Ahmedabad, in western India, is the largest city in the state of Gujarat. The Sabarmati River runs through its center. On the western bank is the Gandhi Ashram at Sabarmati, which displays the spiritual leader’s living quarters and artefacts. Across the river, the Calico Museum of Textiles, once a cloth merchant’s mansion, has a significant collection of antique and modern fabrics.

1. World’s first television channel dedicated to human rights

  • International Observatory of Human Rights has launched ‘World’s first television channel dedicated to human rights’ in London.

2. Goodwill Ambassador of the WHO for Leprosy Elimination

  • Yōhei Sasakawa is chairman of The Nippon Foundation, the World Health Organization Goodwill Ambassador for Leprosy Elimination, and Japan’s Ambassador for the Human Rights of People Affected by leprosy.
  • He received Gandhi Peace Prize for 2018.
  • WHO Goodwill Ambassadors are celebrity advocates of the World Health Organization (WHO) and use their talent and fame to advocate for health and well-being.
  • Amitabh Bachchan from India in 2017 :- Goodwill ambassador for awareness of Hepatitis.

3. Group of 77

  • Palestine has taken the chairmanship of the group from Egypt for 2019.
  • The Group of 77 at the United Nations is a coalition of 134 developing nations, designed to promote its members’ collective economic interests and create an enhanced joint negotiating capacity in the United Nations.

1. First Indian Corporate to cross Net-Profit of Rs 10,000 cr (Quarterly).

  • Reliance Industries Ltd has secured a Net-Profit of 10,251 crore in the October-December quarter.
  • Reliance Industries Limited is an Indian conglomerate holding company headquartered in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. Reliance owns businesses across India engaged in energy, petrochemicals, textiles, natural resources, retail, and telecommunications.

2. BASF SE with Adani Group

  • Both have signed an MOU to invest €2 billion in the acrylics value chain and the designated site will be Mundra port in Gujarat.
  • Mundra Port is the largest private port of India located on the north shores of the Gulf of Kutch near Mundra, Kutch district, Gujarat. Formerly it was operated by Mundra Port and Special Economic Zone Limited owned by Adani Group which later it was expanded into Adani Ports & SEZ Limited managing several ports.
  • Adani Group is an Indian multinational conglomerate headquartered in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. It was founded by Gautam Adani in 1988 as a commodity trading business with the flagship company Adani Enterprises Limited. Gautam Adani is the chairman.

1. Mountaineer Satyarup Siddhanta

  • Mountaineer Satyarup Siddhanta has become the first Indian and youngest man to climb the seven highest peaks and volcanic summits across all continents.
  • This is achieved after he conquered Antarctica’s highest point, Mount Sidley.
  • Mount Sidley is the highest dormant volcano in Antarctica, a member of the Volcanic Seven Summits, with a summit elevation of 4,181–4,285 metres.

2. Shakil Ahmed (Rowing Sport)

  • Shakil Ahmed has created a world record in indoor rowing by completing one lakh metres in above-40 years category in Kolkata.
  • Rowing, often referred to as crew in the United States, is a sport whose origins reach back to Ancient Egyptian times. It involves propelling a boat on water using oars. By pushing against the water with an oar, a force is generated to move the boat.

3. First Indian to be nominated for Laureus award

  • Vinesh Phogat has been nominated for the Comeback category in the Laures world Sports awards.
  • The Laureus World Sports Awards is an annual award ceremony honouring individuals and teams from the world of sports along with sporting achievements throughout the year.
  • Vinesh Phogat is an Indian Female wrestler who comes from a successful background of wrestling with her cousins Geeta Phogat and Babita Kumari, both international wrestlers and Commonwealth Games medalists. She became the first Indian woman wrestler to win Gold in both Commonwealth and Asian games.
