1. National Broadband Mission
- Union Government has launched National Broadband Mission to provide Broadband access to all villages by 2022.
- Aim: To connect 600,000 villages across India with an investment of Rs 7 lakh crore.
- The mission is a part of the National Digital Communications Policy, 2018.
2. GeM Samvaad
- Government e-Marketplace (GeM) has launched a national outreach programme ‘GeM Samvaad’ to bring on-board more local sellers.

1. Global Gender Gap Report 2020
- India has been ranked 112th among 153 countries as per the Global Gender Gap Report 2020 by World Economic Forum.
- Iceland has topped the Global Gender Gap Report 2020.
- Yemen was ranked the worst (153rd) in the report.
2. Danny Aiello passes away
- Veteran film actor Danny Aiello has passed away.
- Daniel Louis Aiello Jr. was an American actor who was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role as Salvatore “Sal” Frangione in the Spike Lee film Do the Right Thing.
3. Carnival of Aalst Celebration
- UNESCO has removed the ‘Carnival of Aalst’ of Belgium from its Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity List over racist remark on Orthodox Jews.

- The Carnival of Aalst or Aalst Carnival is a yearly three-day event in the Belgian city of Aalst. It was recognised by UNESCO as a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity on 2010. The carnival is celebrated in the days preceding Ash Wednesday.

- British Prime Minister Boris Jhonson was re-elected as Prime Minister of UK
- Boris Jhonson led Conservative Party has won 365 seats out of 650 seats.
- Jeremy Corbyn led Labour party (Opposition) has won 202 seats.

1. NEFT, RTGS transfer charges
- RBI has waived NEFT, RTGS transfer charges for savings account holders and will be effective from January 1, 2020.
- Real-time gross settlement systems are specialist funds transfer systems where the transfer of money or securities takes place from one bank to any other bank on a “real time” and on a “gross” basis.
- National Electronic Funds Transfer is an electronic funds transfer system maintained by the Reserve Bank of India. Started in November 2005, the setup was established and maintained by Institute for Development and Research in Banking Technology.
2. Asian Development Bank with Energy Efficiency Services Limited
- Indian Government and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) have signed a $250 million loan for Energy Efficiency Services Limited.
- Energy Efficiency Services Limited is an energy service company of the Government of India and is the world’s largest public ESCO. It is 100% government owned, a joint venture of state-owned NTPC Limited, Power Finance Corporation, Rural Electrification Corporation and POWERGRID.
- The Asian Development Bank is a regional development bank established on 19 December 1966, which is headquartered in the Ortigas Center located in the city of Mandaluyong, Metro Manila, Philippines. The company also maintains 31 field offices around the world to promote social and economic development in Asia.
