1. Merck Young Scientist Award 2019

  • The Merck Young Scientist Award is constituted to encourage young scientists in pursuing their research aspirations.

2. The 29th Saraswati Samman

3. The 7th Economic Census

  • Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani has launched the 7th Economic Census process in the state.
  • Economic Census process is carried out by Union Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation with the help of Common Service Centres.

International News

1. SCO Council of Heads of Government meeting 2020

  • India will host the 19th Edition of Shanghai Cooperation Organization Council of Heads of Government meeting 2020 in New Delhi.
  • SCO is a Eurasian political, economic, and security alliance, the creation of which was announced on 15 June 2001 in Shanghai, China by the leaders of China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan; the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Charter, formally establishing the organisation, was signed in June 2002 and entered into force on 19 September 2003.
  • The original five nations, with the exclusion of Uzbekistan, were previously members of the Shanghai Five group, founded on 26 April 1996. Since then, the organisation has expanded its membership to eight countries when India and Pakistan joined SCO as full members on 9 June 2017 at a summit in Astana, Kazakhstan.

2. International Union for Conservation of Nature with Arunachal Pradesh Government

  • Arunachal Pradesh signed an MoU with International Union for Conservation of Nature for red-listing of orchids.
  • The International Union for Conservation of Nature is an international organization working in the field of nature conservation and sustainable use of natural resources. It is involved in data gathering and analysis, research, field projects, advocacy, and education.

3. Khagendra Thapa Magar passes away

  • Former World’s shortest man Khagendra Thapa Magar passed away.
  • Khagendra Thapa Magar was a Nepali once known as the shortest man in the world, measuring 0.67 m. Magar, who was a primordial dwarf, won the title of shortest man from Edward Niño Hernández when he turned 18 on 14 October 2010.

1. K9 VAJRA-T gun by L&T Armoured System Complex

  • Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has flagged off K9 VAJRA-T Gun from L&T Armoured System Complex at Hazira in Gujarat.
  • In 2019, Indian multinational company Larsen & Toubro (L&T) established the country’s first private-sector Armoured Systems Complex (ASC) facility at its Hazira Complex site in the state of Gujarat.

2. IIM-Indore with TikTok

  • IIM-Indore has signed an MoU with TikTok to provide short video modules for students and trained professionals.
  • TikTok is a video-sharing social networking service owned by ByteDance, a Beijing-based company founded in 2012 by Zhang Yiming. It is used to create short lip-sync, comedy, and talent videos. The app was launched in 2017 for iOS and Android for markets outside of China.

3. Brand ‘Apna Urea–SonaUgle’

  • Minister of Fertilizers D.V. Sadananda Gowda has launched the ‘Apna Urea – SonaUgle’ brand of HURL.
  • The logo and brand ‘Apna Urea SonaUgle’ of Hindustan Urvarak and Rasayan Ltd (HURL).

  • India finished the 2019 year as the top shooting nation in the world
  • India has topped the 2019 ISSF World Cup with 21 Gold Medals, 6 Silver Medals, 3 Bronze Medals.

2. Men’s FIH Pro League

  • The 2020 Men’s FIH Pro League is the second season of the Pro League and fifth edition of the men’s field hockey national team league series.
