National News
1. Telangana with British Council
- Both have signed an MOU to strengthen educational and cultural cooperation and to enhance knowledge ambitions and economic growth of Telangana.
- The British Council is a British organisation specialising in international cultural and educational opportunities.
2. Indian Owl Festival
- The Indian Owl Festival was held at Pingori village of Pune, Maharashtra.
- This is India’s first owl fest, was organized by Ela Foundation to create awareness on owl conservation.
3. Global Aviation Summit-2019
- First Global Aviation Summit will be held in Mumbai, India from January 15 2019.
- The aim is to provide a platform to the aviation fraternity to highlight the challenges of the sector.
4. Ganga Museum
- National Mission for Clean Ganga is planning to set up a Ganga Exhibition and a Ganga Museum in New Delhi.
- The National Mission for Clean Ganga is the implementation wing of National Ganga Council which was set up in October 2016 under the River Ganga Authorities order 2016. The order dissolved National Ganga River Basin Authority. The aim is to clean the Ganga and its tributaries in a comprehensive manner.
International News
1. Exercise ‘Hand in Hand’
- India and China will hold together Military Exercise ‘Hand in Hand’ from December 10.
- The 7th Edition of Military Exercise will be conducted in Chengdu city, China.
2. Exercise Cope India 2019
- Indian Air Force and US Air Force will conduct joint exercise ‘Cope India 2019’ in West Bengal.
- This exercise is being held after a gap of eight years, with the last one having taken place in 2010.
3. ‘Orphanage Trafficking’ as Slavery
- Australia has become first country to recognise orphanage trafficking as a form of modern-day slavery.
- Australia is a country and continent surrounded by the Indian and Pacific oceans. Its major cities – Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide – are coastal. Its capital, Canberra, is inland. The country is known for its Sydney Opera House, the Great Barrier Reef, a vast interior desert wilderness called the Outback, and unique animal species like kangaroos and duck-billed platypuses.
4. Asia Pacific Summit-2018
- The Asia Pacific Summit-2018 has started in Kathmandu, Nepal.
- Theme :- ‘Addressing the Critical Challenges of Our Time: Interdependence, Mutual Prosperity, and Universal Values’

1. New CEO of World Gold Council
- World Gold Council has appointed David Tait as next CEO.
- The World Gold Council is the market development organisation for the gold industry. It works across all parts of the industry, from gold mining to investment, and their aim is to stimulate and sustain demand for gold.
2. Kimberley Process (KP)
- India will lead the chair of the Kimberley Process from 2019 which is a global initiative to remove conflict diamonds from the global supply chain.
- The Kimberley Process Certification Scheme is the process established in 2000 to prevent “conflict diamonds” from entering the mainstream rough diamond market by United Nations General Assembly Resolution 55/56 following recommendations in the Fowler Report.
3. LEI code is mandatory by RBI
- RBI has made Legal Entity Identifier code mandatory for all market transactions regulated by the central bank.
- A Legal Entity Identifier is a 20-character identifier that identifies distinct legal entities that engage in financial transactions. It is defined by ISO 17442. Natural persons are not required to have an LEI; they’re eligible to have one issued, however, but only if they act in an independent business capacity.
4. Forbes list of top female US Tech Tycoon
- Four Indian-origin women are in Forbes America’s top 50 female technology Tycoon.
- Padmasree Warrior, former CTO of ‘Cisco’.
- Komal Mangtani, senior director at ‘Uber’.
- Neha Narkhede, CTO and co-founder of streaming platform ‘Confluent’.
- Kamakshi Sivaramakrishnan, CEO and founder of Drawbrige(identity-management company).

1. First Indian to receive Blue Cross from ISSF
- Abhinav Bindra has become first Indian to be honoured with the Blue Cross by the International Shooting Sport Federation.
- The Blue Cross is the highest award for shooters by the ISSF.
- Abhinav Bindra is an Indian businessman and retired professional shooter who is a former World and Olympic champion in the 10 metre Air Rifle event. By winning the gold in the 10 metre Air Rifle event at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, he became the first Indian to win an individual gold medal at the Olympic Games.
2. New Chairman of Cricket Australia
- Earl Eddings has been named as new Chairman of Cricket Australia following the resignation of David Peever.
- Cricket Australia, formerly known as the Australian Cricket Board, is the governing body for professional and amateur cricket in Australia. It was originally formed in 1905 as the ‘Australian Board of Control for International Cricket’. It is incorporated as an Australian Public Company, limited by guarantee.
3. New ISSF vice-president
- Raninder Singh has been elected as one of the four vice-presidents of the International Shooting Sport Federation.
- He has become the first Indian to be elected.
