1. Army Special Forces to get AC jackets

  • Former Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar has said that the govt is conducting trials for introducing air conditioned jackets for soldiers of the Indian Special Forces.
  • This is to make the soldiers feel comfortable during operations.

2. Temple opens free kitchen for Utkal Express survivors

  • A temple in UP located near the place where the Utkal Express derailed has opened a free kitchen for the survivors of the accident.
  • The temple committee also provided mobile phones for the people to make calls to their families.

3. Boy rewarded for returning diamonds worth Rs.45 lakh

  • The boy was felicitated by Surat Diamond Association for returning a bag of diamonds to the broker who lost it.
  • The Association committed to fund the boy’s education for a year as a part of his reward.

4. Modi warns ministers over 5-star stays

  • PM Modi reprimanded his ministers for their preference for 5-star hotel stays over govt accommodation.
  • He also asked them to avoid taking benefits from any Public Sector Undertakings(PSUs) attached to their ministries.

International News

1. IIT-JEE Mains topper in Limca Book of Records

  • Udaipur’s Kalpit Veerwal is the first ever student to have scored 100% in IIT-JEE Mains.
  • He is now studying Computer Science at IIT-Bombay.

2. UK politician plans to offer Indians to leave country

  • UK Independence Party leadership candidate John Rees-Evans has suggested to plan to pay 9000 pounds to British Indians and others with dual nationalities to leave the country.
  • He reasoned out this plan by saying that the local shops are going out of business.

3. Islamic State claims second attack in Spain

  • The Islamic State claimed responsibility for first attack in Spain on Friday.
  • It also claimed responsibility for another attack in the country on the same day.

4. Wreckage of WWII ship found

  • US Naval Researchers have announced the discovery of the wreckage of World War II Cruiser USS Indianpolis which sank on July 30, 1945.
  • The wreckage was found 5.5 kilometres below the Phillippine Sea in the Pacific.

1. Jack Ma gains Rs.8300 crore

  • E-commerce giant Alibaba’s Founder and Executive Chairman Jack Ma gained after the company reported earnings for the quarter that ended on June 30.
  • Alibaba posted a net profit of Rs.2.1 billion and reported a revenue growth of 56%.

2. Indians account for 74% of the total H-1B visa applications

  • Indians were the largest group of applicants for the first 9 months of US financial year with 2.47 lakh applications.
  • China is second and Canada is third on the list.

3. Nestle sued for duping

  • Nestle’s Poland Spring Water unit duped US consumers into paying premium prices for ordinary ground water rather that water from natural springs.
  • The suit which includes claim for fraud also seeks unspecified damages.

4. Credit Suisse tells clients to not invest in stocks for now

  • Financial services firm Credit Suisse is advising clients to pause from investing in stocks.
  • The banks Global Head of Investment and Strategy said that it is a good time to review equity portfolios, lock in some gains and protect investments.

1.Srikanth, Sindhu lead India’s hunt

  • Kidambi Srikanth and P V Sindhu will headline a 21 member Indian contingent as they gun for the elusive gold medal at the World Badminton Championships.

2.Sakshi and Bajrang are India’s biggest medal hopes

  • Olympic medallist Sakshi Malik and Asian Champion Bajrang Punia will spearhead the Indian Challenge at World Wrestling Championships .
  • It will take place in Paris.
