1. World Herbal Forest Project

  • Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar will inaugurate World Herbal Forest Project in Morni Hill.
  • It is a collaboration between Patanjali and Haryana Government to give a boost to Ayurvedic products.
  • Morni is a village and tourist attraction in the Morni Hills at the height of 1,267 metres in the Panchkula district of the Indian state of Haryana. It is located around 45 kilometres from Chandigarh, 35 kilometres from Panchkula city and is known for its Himalayan views, flora, and lakes.

2. ‘Strategy for New India @75’

  • ‘Strategy for New India @75’is a Strategy Document for New India which has been released by NITI Aayog.
  • The aim is to establish a New India by 2022 and to excel India towards a USD 5 trillion economy by 2030.

3. Karavali Utsav

  • The Karavali Utsav has been inaugurated on 21st December in Mangaluru, Karnataka.

4. First Full Time CVO in SEBI

  • Arti Chhabra Srivastava has been appointed as the first full time Chief Vigilance Officer in SEBI.

International News

1. New Ambassador of India to USA

  • Harsh Vardhan Shringla has been appointed as the new Ambassador of India to USA by External Affairs Ministry.
  • He will replace Navtej Singh Sarna.

2. Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty

  • USA will cancel the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty signed between USA and Russia in the year 1987.
  • The Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty is a 1987 arms control agreement between the United States and the Soviet Union during cold war and to ensure some strategic stability in Europe.

3. Global Compact on Refugees

  • UN General Assembly has adopted the ‘Global Compact on Refugees’ framework.
  • The aim of this framework is to strengthen the international response to the global refugee crisis.
  • USA and Hungary were the two nations that voted against the framework.

4. First US state with an overall female majority

  • Nevada has become first US state with an overall female majority in its legislature.

1. State Startup Ranking-2018

  • Gujarat has been awarded with title of ‘Best Performer’ state.
  • Karnataka, Kerala, Odisha, and Rajasthan have been ranked as ‘Top Performer’ in the State Startup Ranking-2018 released by DIPP.
  • Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion was established in the year 1995, and was reconstituted in the year 2000 with the merger of Department of Industrial Development. The department functions under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India.

2. Karnataka Bank with Paisabazaar.com

3. Global Aviation Summit- 2019

Sports News

1. Head of women cricket team- India

  • WV Raman has been chosen as the head of India women cricket team by BCCI.
  • Woorkeri Venkat Raman is a former Indian cricketer and current coach of the India women’s national cricket team, having been appointed to the role in December 2018. He played domestic cricket for Tamil Nadu, mainly as a left-handed batsman and a part-time left arm spinner.

2. AFC Asian Cup 2019

  • The 2019 AFC Asian Cup will be the 17th edition of the AFC Asian Cup, the quadrennial international men’s football championship of Asia organised by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).
  • It will be held in the United Arab Emirates from 5 January to 1 February 2019.
  • Two mascots, Mansour and Jarrah, were unveiled. Mansour is a typical Arab football kid with lightning speed, while Jarrah is an Arabian falcon.

3. Tata Open Maharashtra ATP tournament

  • The 2018 Maharashtra Open was a 2018 ATP World Tour tennis tournament played on outdoor hard courts. It was the 23rd edition of the only ATP tournament played in India and took place in Pune.
