1. 22nd Law Commission of India

  • The constitution of the ’22nd Law Commission of India’ has received the approval from Union Cabinet.
  • The Commission will be responsible for giving recommendations on different aspects of law which are entrusted to it.

2. Central Consumer Protection Authority

  • Government of India will set-up the Central Consumer Protection Authority in April 2020.
  • The authority would be set up under the Consumer Protection Act 2019.
  • Aim: To address various issues related to consumer rights, unfair trade practices, misleading advertisements and imposing penalties for selling spurious and adulterated products.

3. Kala Kumbh Exhibition

  • The Kala Kumbh Exhibition was organized by the Ministry of Textiles in New Delhi.
  • Aim: To promote Geographical Indication (GI) craft and heritage of India.

4. Phase- 2 of the Swachh Bharat Mission, Grameen

  • Union Cabinet has approved the Phase-2 of the Swachh Bharat Mission, Grameen till 2024-25, which will focus on Open Defecation Free Plus (ODF Plus).
  • The program will work towards ensuring that no one is left behind and everyone uses a toilet.

1. EY’s ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ award

  • Biocon’s Chairman and Managing Director Kiran Mazumdar Shaw has been declared EY Entrepreneur of the Year 2019.
  • Kiran Mazumdar Shaw will now represent India at the EY World Entrepreneur of the Year Award (WEOY) to be held in Monte Carlo

  • Gujarat Government has signed an MoU with SBI to facilitate approval of loans to entrepreneurs in the MSME sector with ease and within a short time-frame.

3. Times Higher Education’s (THE) Emerging Economies University Rankings 2020

  • The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) has ranked 16th among the top 100 universities of under ‘Times Higher Education’s (THE) Emerging Economies University Rankings 2020’.
  • Indian Institute of Science (IISc) is a public deemed research university for higher education in science and engineering, located in Bangalore in the Indian state of Karnataka. It was granted the deemed to be university status in 1958 and the Institute of Eminence status in 2018.
