1.Shankarsinh Vaghela quits congress.

  • Leader of the opposition of Gujarat assembly and Veteran congress leader Shankarsinh Vaghela announced to quit congress on his 77th birthday.
  • Notably, as much as 11 congress legislators cross voted for Ram Nath Kovind in the presidential election.

2.Madhya Pradesh to give Rs.1 crore to family of every martyr.

  • Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has announced that MP government will give Rs.1 crore as compensation to their family members, if anyone from state attains martyrdom for the country.
  • He also announced to provide them a house, a job to a family member, erect a statue of the martyr and name a road after him/her.

3.Yogi Adityanath rejects Metro Man’s resignation.

  • Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath rejected Metro Man E Sreedharan’s resignation as the state’s metro advisor.
  • Interestingly, CM has handed over three more projects to him.

4.India’s first ‘Eco-bridges’ for the movement of tigers in Telangana.

  • In a first of its kind, telangana state will have eco-friendly bridge over a canal cutting across the Tdoba_Andhari Tiger reserve in the Chandrapur district of Maharashta.
  • The eco-bridges will be constructed at key spots along the 72km long, and at some places over a kilometer wide, right flank canal of the Pranhita barge.

International News

1.Turkey and Greece hit by strong earthquake of 6.5 magnitude.

  • Turkey and Greece were hit by strong earthquake of 6.5 magnitude on early Friday.
  • The epicenter was 10 km south of the Turkish resort of Bordum.

2.Neil Armstrong’s Moon bag sells for $1.8 million at auction.

  • A bag used by US astronaut Neil Armstrong to bring samples of moon dust back to earth was sold for $1.8 million.
  • Neil Armstrong is the first man to walk on moon exactly 47 years ago on 21st July 1969.

3.IMF approves $1.8bn loan to Greece.

  • The International Monetary Fund’s board approved a $1.8 billion loan to Greece.
  • The IMF has praised Greece for taking steps to reduce its budget deficits, including expanding its tax base and cutting spending on pensions.

4.India-Japan agreement on peaceful uses of N-energy comes into force.

  • The agreement between India and Japan for the cooperation in the peaceful uses of nuclear energy has come into force. Foreign Secretary S Jaiashanakar and Ambassador of Japan to India Mr. Kenji Hiramatsu exchanged diplomatic notes in this regard.
  • This agreement between the two nations was inked on November 11, 2016, during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Tokyo.

1 .Reliance Jio unveils 4G phone at Rs.1500 security deposit.

  • Reliance Jio announced the launch of its 4G feature phone named ‘JioPhone’.
  • Interestingly, the phone will effectively cost Rs.0 with one time security deposit of Rs.1500, which will be refundable after three years on returning it.

2.Balaji Telefilms approves issue of 25.2 mn shares to Reliance Industries.

  • Balaji Telefilms approved issue of 25.2 million shares for Rs.413crore to Reliance Industries.
  • Jeetendra Kapoor led Balaji Telefilm production house creates content for TV, cinema and digital media.

3.Relinace Q1 profit up 28% to Rs 9,108crore.

  • Mukesh Ambani led Reliance Industries (RIL) reported 28% jump in its first quarter net profits to 9108 crore making it India’s most profitable firm.
  • India’s most valuable firm by market capitalisation saw its revenue grow by 26.7% to 90,537 crore.

Sports News
1.India beat Aus to reach Women’s WC final second time.

  • India’s women’s criket team defeated Australia to reach WC final second time in history. Harmanpreet Kaur scored 171 (not out) highest score by an Indian in WWC.
  • On Sunday India will face hosts England in the title clash.

2. Kashyap, Prannoy and Sameer advances US open quarterfinals.

  • Indian shuttlers P Kashyap, Sameer Verma and H S Prannoy advanced to the quarterfinals of the men’s singles’ competition at the US Open Grand Prix Gold badminton championship.
  • Kashyap will next face compatriot and fifth seed Sameer Verma, Prannoy will face eighth seed Kanta Tsuneyama of Japan next.
