3. 2019 UN Sasakawa Award for Disaster Reduction

  • Dr PK Mishra has been conferred the 2019 UN Sasakawa Award for Disaster Reduction by the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction.
  • Pramod Kumar Mishra, often abbreviated to as PK Mishra, is a re-employed 1972 batch IAS officer belonging to Gujarat cadre.
  • He currently is the Additional Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi.

1. International Day for Biological Diversity

  • The International Day for Biological Diversity is a United Nations–sanctioned international day for the promotion of biodiversity issues. It is currently held on May 22.
  • The International Day for Biological Diversity falls within the scope of the UN Post-2015 Development Agenda’s Sustainable Development Goals.

2. Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) Meeting

  • A meeting for the development of Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline held in Turkmenistan.
  • The Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan–India Pipeline, also known as Trans-Afghanistan Pipeline, is a natural gas pipeline being developed by the Galkynysh – TAPI Pipeline Company Limited with participation of the Asian Development Bank.

4. 2019 John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Award

  • US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was honoured with the 2019 John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Award.
  • John F. Kennedy was an American politician who served as the 35th president of the United States from January 1961 until his assassination in November 1963.

  • RBI has appointed former deputy governor Rama Subramaniam Gandhi as an additional director on the board of Yes Bank.
