  • The central government has confirmed the appointment of BVR Subrahmanyam, a 1987 batch IAS officer hailing from the Chhattisgarh cadre, to the esteemed position of CEO of NITI Aayog.
  • Succeeding Parameswaran Iyer, who has now taken on the role of Executive Director of the World Bank, Mr. Subrahmanyam brings a wealth of experience to his new role. His tenure as the Chief Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir and the Additional Chief Secretary (Home) in Chhattisgarh speaks volumes about his capability. His close association with former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh from 2004 to 2008 as his private secretary is also noteworthy.

2. Accolades at DPIFF Awards 2023 for Ranbir Kapoor

  • At the renowned Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival (DPIFF) Awards 2023 in Mumbai, Ranbir Kapoor emerged as the victor, clinching the Best Actor award for his sterling performance in “Brahmastra Part One-Shiva.”

4. The Demise of Former Gujarat Governor O P Kohli

  • The nation mourns the passing of former Gujarat Governor and Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament, Om Prakash Kohli. He breathed his last at the age of 87 in Noida.
  • Having stepped into politics in January 1991, Mr. Kohli had an illustrious career. He served as the 19th Governor of Gujarat between 2014 and 2019 and even shouldered the responsibilities of Governor of Madhya Pradesh and Goa briefly. Prior to his political journey, he imparted knowledge as a lecturer at esteemed institutions like Hansraj College and Deshbandhu College in Delhi.

5. INS Sumedha’s Engagement in IDEX and NAVDEX at Abu Dhabi

  • The Indian Naval Ship Sumedha has graced Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE), with its presence. It is there to participate in the Naval Defence Exhibition (NAVDEX) 2023 and the International Defence Exhibition (IDEX) 2023.
  • This endeavor seeks to spotlight India’s commendable shipbuilding prowess and amplify the “Aatma Nirbhar Bharat” vision. INS Sumedha, commissioned into the Indian Navy in 2014, is a testament to India’s indigenous shipbuilding capabilities being the third ship of the Saryu class Naval Offshore Patrol Vessels.
