1. Justice Arjan Kumar Sikri’s Appointment
- Former Supreme Court Justice, Arjan Kumar Sikri, has been appointed by the Delhi High Court as the administrator for the 2023 Shooting World Cup.
- In this role, he will oversee the event’s budget and ensure proper utilization of funds for the upcoming International Shooting Sports Federation (ISSF) World Cup, scheduled to be held in India in March.
2. Chris Hipkins to Succeed Jacinda Ardern as New Zealand’s Prime Minister
- Chris Hipkins (44), currently the minister of health and education and the prospective candidate to lead the ruling Labour Party, is set to succeed Jacinda Ardern as the prime minister.
- Hipkins was elected to parliament representing the Labour Party in 2008 and was appointed the minister for COVID-19 in 2020. New Zealand is an island country located in the south-western Pacific Ocean and ranks sixth-largest in terms of area. Its capital city is Wellington.

3. Mukesh Ambani Ranks #2 Among World’s Top 100 CEOs
- Brand Finance’s annual ranking of the world’s most influential CEOs has placed Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani in the second spot.
- NVidia CEO, Jensen Huang, tops the Brand Guardianship Index 2023.
- Brand Finance, a brand valuation services company, released its annual CEO Brand Report which acknowledges business leaders who adeptly balance short-term profit aims with the long-term objectives of brand growth and reputation. Sundar Pichai and Satya Nadella follow in the rankings, holding second and third places respectively.

4. UNESCO’s Global Day of Education Highlights Afghan Girls and Women
- The 24th of January, 2023, will be celebrated as the Global Day of Education, with UNESCO choosing to spotlight the women and girls of Afghanistan.
- UNESCO states that nearly 80% of young Afghan girls and women are not attending school as the Taliban has barred them from secondary or higher educational institutions. The agency plans to highlight this issue in its upcoming 2023 SDG4 Scorecard report.

5. Transition at Netflix Inc: Reed Hastings Steps Down
- Reed Hastings, co-founder of Netflix Inc, has decided to step down from his position as CEO. The role will be passed on to long-time co-CEO Ted Sarandos and the company’s Chief Operating Officer, Greg Peters.
- Hastings co-founded Netflix as a DVD-by-mail service in 1997. The inspiration for the business came from his personal vexation after a late return of the Apollo 13 rental.
