1. First woman IPS to reach the South Pole

IPS Aparna Kumar has become the first woman IPS officer to reach the South Pole.
Aparna Kumar is 2002 batch UP Cadre IPS officer.

2. Sansad Ratna Award

Twelve parliamentarians are honoured with the Sansad Ratna award which was inducted by ex-President APJ Abdul Kalam.
Some notable names are :-
Himachal Pradesh BJP MP and Former President of BCCI, Anurag Thakur
Standing committee on finance headed by M Veerappa Moily
Heena Vijaykumar Gavit -raised 1,059 questions in the Lok Sabha and holds an attendance of 82 per cent.

3. ‘Shehri Samridhi Utsav’

Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs will organize a Event ‘Shehri Samridhi Utsav’ from 1st February to 15th February which will focus on urban livelihoods.
It comes under Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana –National Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY–NULM).

4. Statehood Day for Manipur, Meghalaya, Tripura

Manipur, Meghalaya and Tripura had celebrated their statehood day on 21st January.
The North-Eastern Areas (Reorganisation) Act, 1971 was enacted with a view to provide for the establishment of the States of Manipur and Tripura and to provide for the formation of the State of Meghalaya and of the Union territories of Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh by reorganisation of the existing State of Assam and for matters connected therewith.

1. World Congress of the International Union of Architects

Rio de Janeiro will host the 27th edition of the World Congress of the International Union of Architects (UIA) in July 2020.
Rio de Janeiro is a huge seaside city in Brazil, famed for its Copacabana and Ipanema beaches, 38m Christ the Redeemer statue atop Mount Corcovado and for Sugarloaf Mountain, a granite peak with cable cars to its summit. The city is also known for its sprawling favelas (shanty towns). Its raucous Carnaval festival, featuring parade floats, flamboyant costumes and samba dancers, is considered the world’s largest.

2. World’s Oldest Man

Masazo Nonaka from Japan who has passed away at 113.
He was recognised as the world’s oldest man by Guinness World Records.
Guinness World Records, known from its inception from 1955 until 2000 as The Guinness Book of Records and in previous United States editions as The Guinness Book of World Records, is a reference book published annually, listing world records both of human achievements and the extremes of the natural world.

3. Tony Mendez passes away

Antonio Joseph Mendez was an American technical operations officer for the Central Intelligence Agency, who specialized in support of clandestine and covert CIA operations.
He was portrayed by Ben Affleck in the 2012 Oscar-winning film ‘Argo’.
He was widely known, for his on-the-scene management of the “Canadian Caper” during the Iran hostage crisis. He ex-filtrated six American diplomats from Iran in January 1980 by arranging to have them pose as a Canadian film crew. As part of their cover, the diplomats carried passports issued by the Canadian government to document them as Canadian citizens.

4. Arab Economic and Social Development Summit

The Arab Economic and Social Development Summit was held in Capital Beirut of Lebanon.
The Arab League, formally the League of Arab States, is a regional organisation of Arab states in and around North Africa, the Horn of Africa and Arabia. It was formed in Cairo on 22 March 1945 with six members: Kingdom of Egypt, Kingdom of Iraq, Transjordan, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, and Syria.

1. Global Economy Estimates

According to United Nations, The Global Economy may continue to grow with a steady pace of around 3.0% in 2019 and 2020.
The United Nations is an intergovernmental organization that was tasked to maintain international peace and security, develop friendly relations among nations, achieve international co-operation and be a centre for harmonizing the actions of nations.

2. Project ReWeave by Microsoft India

Microsoft India has launched a e-commerce platform under its Project ReWeave.
It is a as part of its philanthropic initiative for handloom weavers in India.

3. Armoured Systems Complex in Surat

Armoured Systems Complex (ASC) is India’s first Private Facility where ‘K9 Vajra Howitzer Guns’ will be manufactured.
ASC is developed by Larsen and Toubro at Hazira near Surat,Gujarat.
A self-propelled gun (SPG) is a form of self-propelled artillery, and in modern use is usually used to refer to artillery pieces such as howitzers.
The greatest tactical advantage in the case of artillery guns is clearly the greater degree of mobility they have compared to towed artillery.

4. World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meet

The World Economic Forum’s Annual Meet had started in Davos, Switzerland.
Theme :- ‘Globalization 4.0: Shaping a Global Architecture in the Age of the Fourth Industrial Revolution’.
The World Economic Forum, based in Cologny-Geneva, Switzerland, was founded in 1971 as a not-for-profit organization. It gained formal status in January 2015 under the Swiss Host-State Act, confirming the role of the Forum as an International Institution for Public-Private Cooperation.

1. Khelo India Youth Games 2019

The Khelo India Youth Games 2019 was concluded in Pune.
Maharashtra – 228 Medals (85 Gold, 62 Silver, 81 Bronze)
Haryana – 178 Medals (62 Gold, 56 Silver, 60 Bronze)
Delhi – 136 Medals (48 Gold, 37 Silver, 51 Bronze)

2. Singapore ITF Tournament

Ankita Raina from has won the International Tennis Federation’s Singapore Women’s tournament.
Ankita Ravinderkrishan Raina is an Indian tennis player, and the current Indian No. 1 in women’s singles. Raina has won 7 singles and 14 doubles titles on the ITF Women’s Circuit. In April 2018, she entered the top 200 singles rankings, becoming only the fourth Indian women to achieve this feat.
