1. Book ‘The Cousins Thackeray: Uddhav, Raj and the Shadow of their Senas’

  • Book ‘The Cousins Thackeray: Uddhav, Raj and the Shadow of their Senas’ is authored by journalist Dhaval Kulkarni.
  • It presents the political journey of Shiv Sena President Uddhav Thackeray and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray.

2. Jammu International Film Festival

  • The first ever ‘Jammu International Film Festival’ will be held in Jammu.
  • Jammu and Kashmir is a region administered by India as a state from 1952, constituting the southern and south-eastern portion of the larger Kashmir region, which has been the subject of a dispute between India, Pakistan and China since the mid-20th century.

3. Loan Melas

  • Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has announced that Public Sector Banks will organise ‘Loan Melas’ in 400 districts.
  • Public Sector Banks are a major type of bank in India, where a majority stake is held by a government. The shares of these banks are listed on stock exchanges. There are a total of 12 Public Sector Banks alongside 1 state-owned Payments Bank in India.

4. National Geoscience Awards 2018

  • 22 Scientist across the country were awarded the National Geoscience Awards for the year 2018 by the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Coal and Mines, Shri Pralhad Joshi.
  • Dr Sohini Ganguly of Goa University, was conferred with the Young Scientist Award-2018.

5. India’s Entry to the Oscars

  • Zoya Akhtar’s Movie ‘Gully Boy’ is India’s official entry for the 92nd Academy Awards.
  • ‘Gully Boy’ focuses on the life of an aspiring rapper in Mumbai’s Dharavi slum.

1. World Rhino Day

  • World Rhino Day is observed on 22 September by the World Wildlife Fund.
  • World Rhino Day was started by World Wildlife Fund (WWF)-South Africa in 2010.

2. International Day of Peace

2. Google Research India

  • Google will open an Artificial Intelligence based research lab ‘Google Research India’.
