1. Delhi allots Rs.100 cr in Budget for free WiFi across capital

The govt first announced a free WiFi scheme in 2016 but the project failed to take off.
The deadline for the project was extended and its first phase was scheduled to begin by March 2018.

2. YSR Congress calls for Andhra bandh over special status

The bandh is to protest against Centre for refusing special category status to the state.
Leaders of various political parties also blocked the National Highways in the state as a part of their protest.

3. ISRO working on potential structures for living on Moon

ISRO is experimenting with potential structures for human habitation on the Moon.
ISRO is planning to send Chandrayaan-2 to the Moon’s south pole this year.

4. 106th Bihar Diwas celebrated across the state

Bihar is celebrating a three-day event to mark its 106th establishment day or Bihar Diwas starting today.
Vice President Venkaiah Naidu inaugurated the three-day festivities on the occasion.
Bihar Diwas event in Patna is being celebrated with the theme, ‘Champaran Satyagrah: Centenary Year’ this year.

1. Singapore airport rated world’s best

The Singapore Changi Airport has been ranked 1st for the 6th consecutive year.
Mumbai, Bangalore and Delhi airports have been ranked 63rd, 64th and 66th respectively.

2. Maldives lifts state of emergency

Maldives’ President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom lifted the state of emergency after a period of 45 days.
The emergency was imposed after Maldives’ SC ordered the release of 9 jailed opposition MPs.

3.Israel admits bombing Syrian nuclear reactor in 2007

Israel has admitted this after over 10 years of secrecy.
Syria has repeatedly denied building a nuclear reactor.

4.World Water day: 22nd March

International World Water Day is held annually on 22 March as a means of focusing attention on the importance of freshwater and advocating for the sustainable management of freshwater resources.
The theme in 2018: Nature for Water explores how nature can be used to overcome the water challenges of the 21st century.

1. Google developing its own blockchain-related technology

Google is developing a blockchain-like ledger system to differentiate its cloud business from its rivals.
The company would also offer a version that other companies can run on their own servers.

2. Parliament passes bill to double tax-free gratuity

The Parliament passed the Payment of Gratuity(Amendment) Bill that enables the govt to doubt the ceiling of tax-free gratuity to Rs.20 lakh.
Gratuity is a benefit offered to an employee for serving the organisation continuously for 5 yrs.

3. Indians prefer Paytm over Google as workplace : LinkedIn

The report says Indian professionals prefer One97 Communications, Directi and Flipkart over global giants like Amazon and Google.
Ola ranked 16th after dropping 11 spots.

1. Windies make it to 2019 World Cup

West Indies qualified for the 2019 World Cup after beating Scotland in the WC Qualifier tournament.
This was for the 1st time that the 2 time champions had to play qualifying tournament.

2. Kamran Akmal smashes 50 in 17 balls

This is the fastest ever in Pakistan Premier League.
He overtook Islamabad United’s Luke Ronchi who had set the previous record by slamming 50 off 19 balls earlier in the season.
