1. Rudrankksh Patil Secures Gold in Men’s 10m Air Rifle at ISSF World Cup 2023

  • Indian shooter Rudrankksh Patil achieved his first individual gold medal at the ISSF World Cup in Cairo, Egypt, in the men’s 10m air rifle event.
  • He outperformed Germany’s Maximilian Ulbrich, who settled for the silver medal.
  • The bronze medal was won by Miran Maricic from Croatia.
  • In the women’s 10m air rifle event, Tilottama Sen (14) secured the second bronze for India.
  • Seonaid Mcintosh from Great Britain claimed the gold, while Nina Christen from Switzerland took the silver.

2. Delhi Bans Ola, Uber, and Rapido Bike Taxi Services

  • The Delhi government has imposed an immediate ban on bike taxi services offered by Ola, Uber, and Rapido.
  • This move is based on the violation of the Motor Vehicle Act, 1988, as these platforms were using personal vehicles for commercial taxi services.
  • Violators will face a fine of Rs 5,000 for the first offense, and for subsequent offenses, a fine of Rs 10,000 along with imprisonment will be imposed.
  • This decision follows the Supreme Court’s ban on Rapido services in Maharashtra and concerns about the lack of emergency buttons, posing safety risks for women passengers.

3. Gulab Chand Kataria Takes Oath as Assam Governor

  • Gulab Chand Kataria was sworn in as the 31st governor of Assam.
  • The oath of office and secrecy was administered by Gauhati High Court’s Chief Justice Sandeep Mehta at a brief ceremony at the Srimanta Sankardeva Kalakshetra.
  • Kataria, a senior BJP leader and an eight-time MLA from Udaipur, Rajasthan, succeeded Jagadish Mukhi after completing his term.
  • He is also a member of the central working committee of the BJP and served as the Home Minister in the Government of Rajasthan from 2014 to 2018.

  • SS Rajamouli’s “RRR” and Vivek Agnihotri’s “The Kashmir Files” received top honors at the Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival Awards 2023.
  • Alia Bhatt was awarded Best Actress for “Gangubai Kathiawadi,” and Ranbir Kapoor received Best Actor for “Brahmastra.”
  • Anupam Kher was recognized as the Most Versatile Actor of the Year for “The Kashmir Files.”
  • Rishab Shetty won the Most Promising Actor award for “Kantara,” and Varun Dhawan received the Critics Best Actor Award for “Bhediya.”

5. India-Uzbekistan Biennial Military Exercise ‘Ex-DUSTLIK 2023’ Begins in Uttarakhand

  • The fourth edition of the biennial training exercise ‘Ex DUSTLIK 2023’ between the Indian Army and the Uzbekistan Army is currently underway in Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand, from February 20 to March 5, 2023.
  • The joint exercise aims to enhance military capabilities for multi-domain operations in a sub-conventional scenario under a United Nations mandate.
  • The Indian contingent is represented by the 14th Battalion, the GARHWAL RIFLES, which is part of the Western Command, while the Uzbekistan Army is represented by troops from the North Western Military District.
