1. Bharat Stage-VI Grade

  • India will switch to world’s cleanest diesel and petrol from April 1 2020 as it is a transitional shift from Bharat Stage-IV grade to Bharat Stage-VI grade.
  • The BS-VI grade has only 10 ppm of sulphur with its emission standards are as good as that of CNG.

2. India’s tallest pier bridge (Railway)

  • India’s tallest railway pier bridge of 100 meter tall has been constructed by the Northeast Frontier Railway Construction Organization.
  • Indian Railways is India’s national railway system operated by the Ministry of Railways. It manages the fourth largest railway network in the world by size, with a route length of 67,368-kilometre as of March 2017.

3. Atal Kisan – Majdoor canteens

  • The Atal Kisan – Majdoor canteens has been opnened by Haryana Government across the state.
  • Aim: To provide provide affordable and cheap meals to farmers and labourers at a concessional rate of RS 10 per plate in all mandis and sugar mills.

4. Chitra Bharati Film Festival

  • Ahmedabad will host the 3rd edition of Chitra Bharati Film Festival by the Bharatiya Chitra Sadhana.
  • Aim: To establish a ‘Bharatiya’ narrative in Indian cinema.

International News

1. ‘Namaste Trump Event’

  • Government of India is hosting an event named as ‘Namaste Trump’ at Motera Stadium in Ahmedabad, Gujarat for US President Donald Trump’s visits to India and is expected to be similar to the ‘Howdy Modi’ event which was held last year in Houston, US.
  • Donald Trump will also become the first serving US President to visit Gujarat.

2. FATF Grey List

  • Financial Action Task Force (FATF) has decided to keep Pakistan on the FATF Grey List till June 2020.
  • The Financial Action Task Force, also known by its French name, Groupe d’action financière, is an intergovernmental organization founded in 1989 on the initiative of the G7 to develop policies to combat money laundering. In 2001, its mandate was expanded to include terrorism financing.

3. International Mother Language Day

  • UNESCO celebrated the International Mother Language Day 21st February.

4. World Thinking Day

  • World Thinking Day, formerly Thinking Day, is celebrated annually on 22 February by all Girl Guides and boy Scouts.
  • It is also celebrated by Scout and Guide organizations and some boy-oriented associations around the world.

2. Former FICCI president passed away

  • Former FICCI President V L Dutt has passed away.
  • The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry is an association of business organisations in India. Established in 1927, on the advice of Mahatma Gandhi by GD Birla and Purushottam Das Thakurdas, it is the largest, oldest and the apex business organization in India.

3. Larry Tesler passed away

  • The computer scientist Larry Tesler, who introduced the cut, copy and paste commands passed away.
  • Lawrence Gordon Tesler was an American computer scientist who worked in the field of human–computer interaction. Tesler worked at Xerox PARC, Apple, Amazon, and Yahoo!

1. Pragyan Ojha retires

  • Pragyan Ojha has announced retirement from all forms of cricket.
  • Pragyan Prayash Ojha is an Indian former cricketer, who represented India in Test, ODIs and T20. He is an attacking slow left arm orthodox bowler and left-hand tail-ender batsman.

2. IPL 2020

  • The 13th edition of the Indian Premier League 2020 has been announced by BCCI.
