1. Most Eminent Senior Citizen Award

  • Vice President Venkaiyah Naidu has presented the ‘Most Eminent Senior Citizen Award’ to K Parasaran.
  • K. Parasaran is an Indian lawyer. He was Advocate-General of Tamil Nadu during President’s rule in 1976 and then, Attorney General of India under Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi. Parasaran was awarded the Padma Bhushan in the year 2003 and Padma Vibhushan in the year 2011.

2. Sudarshan Chakra Vahini War exercise

  • Sudarshan Chakra Vahini War exercise of Indian Army has started in Jaisalmer.
  • Jaisalmer is a former medieval trading center and a princely state in the western Indian state of Rajasthan, in the heart of the Thar Desert. Known as the “Golden City,” it’s distinguished by its yellow sandstone architecture.

3. Crime in India Report 2017

  • National Crime Records Bureau has released ‘Crime in India Report 2017’.
  • 3.59 lakh cases of crime against women were reported in India.

  • It is found during excavations at Marawah Island, dated back to between 5800 and 5600 BC.

1. International Zero Waste Cities Conference

  • International Zero Waste Cities Conference was held in Penang, Malaysia.
  • Zero Waste challenges the “take-make-waste” mode, focusing on collective responsibility and waste prevention.
  • To date, more than 25 cities across the Asia Pacific region have established Zero Waste models, showcasing innovations in source separation, organics management, materials recovery, and plastic regulation.
  • Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala has been placed in a zero-waste cities list and received an award for its green city projects at International Zero Waste Cities Conference.

2. ‘Feed Our Future’ Campaign

  • United Nations World Food Programme has launched a cinema advertisement campaign ‘Feed Our Future’ in India.

1. Sultan of Johor Cup hockey Tournament 2019

  • Great Britain has defeated India in the finals in the 9th edition of the Sultan of Johor Cup 2019.
  • The 9th edition of Sultan of Johor Cup 2019 was held at Johor Bahru, Malaysia.
  • The Sultan of Johor Cup is an annual, international under–21 men’s field hockey tournament held in Malaysia. Since the first edition held in 2011, five teams have emerged victorious. Great Britain are the most successful team having won the tournament three times.

  • Former South Africa Cricketer Graeme Smith has been elected an Honorary Life Member of the Marylebone Cricket Club.

The club was formerly the governing body of cricket in England and Wales and, as the sport’s legislator, held considerable global influence.
