1. eGovernance ‘Award of Excellence’ 2019

  • Two applications of the Election Commission of India ‘cVIGIL’ and ‘Voter Helpline App’ have won the eGovernance ‘Award of Excellence’ for the year 2019.
  • These awards were given by the Computer Society of India (CSI), Special Interest Group on e-Governance (CSI SIG e-Gov).
  • The Election Commission of India is an autonomous constitutional authority responsible for administering election processes in India at national, state and district level.
  • Sunil Arora is the current 23rd Chief Election Commissioner and the two Election Commissioners are Ashok Lavasa and Sushil Chandra.

2. Champions of Change (award)

  • Champions of Change is an Indian award, for promoting Gandhian values, (Swachata), community service and social development.(in Aspirational district in india), selected by constitutional jury members headed by K. G. Balakrishnan Former Chief Justice of India and Former Chairman NHRC.
  • It is given annually in four categories, and usually presented by the President, Vice president, Prime Minister of India or a leading figure.
  • The award is being given under the Transformation of Aspirational District program, in the district declared Aspirational by Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi in January 2018.
  • The programme identifies the progress of 115 ‘aspirational’ districts whose development is being monitored by the NITI Aayog.
  • Champions of Change Awards 2019 distributed by honourable former president of India Shri Pranab Mukherjee at Vigyan Bhavan New Delhi. Hon’ble Pranab Mukherjee will Grace the occasion as Chief Guest.

3. Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar 2020

  • President Kovind has distributed the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar 2020 at RashtrapatiBhavan, New Delhi.
  • The award is given to recognize the exceptional achievements of children in various fields like innovation, scholastic achievements, social service, arts and culture, sports and bravery.

4. Mukhyamantri Krishak Durghatna Kalyan Yojana

  • Uttar Pradesh Government has launched Mukhyamantri Krishak Durghatna Kalyan Yojana.
  • Aim: To provide financial assistance to the family of farmers who die or become handicapped while working in fields.

1. World Economic Situation and Prospects (WESP) 2020 Report

  • In the World Economic Situation and Prospects (WESP) 2020 report by United Nations, India’s GDP growth rate is projected at 5.7% for the Fiscal Year 2019-20.

2. India’s first Mahatma Gandhi convention centre

1. New CEO of Bank of Baroda

  • Sanjiv Chadha has been appointed as CEO of Bank of Baroda.
  • Bank of Baroda is an Indian Multinational, public sector Banking and Financial Services company. It is the second largest public sector bank in India post-merger with a business mix of close to US$225 billion. Based on 2019 data, it is ranked 1145 on Forbes Global 2000 list.

2. New MD and CEO of Canara Bank

  • Lingam Venkata Prabhakar will be appointed as MD and CEO of Canara Bank.
  • Lingam Venkata Prabhakar is serving as executive director of Punjab National Bank
  • Canara Bank is one of the largest public sector banks owned by the Government of India. It is headquartered in Bengaluru. It was established at Mangalore in 1906 by Ammembal Subba Rao Pai. It is one of the oldest public sector banks in the country.

3. New MD and CEO of Bank of India

  • Atanu Kumar Das has been appointed as MD and CEO of Bank of India.
  • Bank of India is a commercial bank with headquarters in the Bandra Kurla Complex, Mumbai and it is one of the top 5 banks in India. Founded in 1906, it has been government-owned since nationalisation in 1969.
