Charaideo Maidam of Assam Nominated for UNESCO World Heritage Site

• Charaideo Maidam has been nominated to be North East India’s first UNESCO World Heritage Site in the cultural category.
• Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced this nomination at the 46th session of the World Heritage Committee held from July 21-31 in New Delhi.
• If approved, Charaideo Maidam will become India’s 43rd World Heritage Site, joining Kaziranga National Park and Manas National Park, which are listed under the natural category.

SIDBI to Create $1 Billion Fund for Green Financing

• The Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI), having received $215.6 million from the Green Climate Fund, will establish a $1 billion fund to finance mitigation and adaptation projects (FMAP) for Medium and Small Enterprises (MSMEs).
• The Green Climate Fund board, an entity of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), approved a $200 million loan and a $15.6 million grant for SIDBI’s capacity building.

Union Budget 2024-25
