3. Oxford Dictionary’s Word of the year

  • Oxford Dictionary has named ‘Climate Emergency’ as its 2019 Word of the Year.
  • The Oxford English Dictionary is the principal historical dictionary of the English language, published by Oxford University Press.

4. NIA’s first-ever Counter-Terrorism Exercise

  • National Investigation Agency will host the first-ever Counter-Terrorism (CT) Exercise between USA, India, Australia, and Japan in New Delhi.
  • The National Investigation Agency is a central agency established by the Indian Government to combat terror in India. It acts as the Central Counter Terrorism Law Enforcement Agency. The agency is empowered to deal with terror related crimes across states without special permission from the states.

1. ‘Third Umpire’ RT-PCR Machines

  • Kolkata has installed first of its kind high-end Reverse Transcription-Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) Machine named ‘Third Umpire’.
  • Aim: It is for quick detection of diseases like dengue, tuberculosis and swine flu.
  • Jagdeep Dhankhar is the governor of West Bengal.

2. RBI supersedes DHFL Board

  • RBI has superseded DHFL board to initiate the process of resolution of the company under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy rules.
  • DHFL is thus all set to become India’s first financier to land up in bankruptcy courts.
  • Former MD and CEO of Indian Overseas Bank R Subramaniakumar has been appointed as the administrator for the process.
  • Dewan Housing Finance Corporation Ltd. is a deposit-taking housing finance company, headquartered in Mumbai with branches in major cities across India. DHFL was established to enable access to affordable housing finance to the lower and middle income groups in semi-urban and rural parts of India.

3. Film Bazaar by National Film Development Corporation
