 India and French begin joint naval exercise ‘Varuna’

  • A joint maritime exercise Varuna has begun on 24th April 2017 and will be ended on 30th April 2017 by the Indian Navy with the French Navy at the Mediterranean Sea and aims at deepening combat coordination between the two navies as The Indian Navy and the French Navy have been conducting naval exercises since 1983 and There has been significant progress in all areas of bilateral cooperation and exchanges including naval exercises between India and France.

 First Agreement on Reconstruction of Arak Reactor signed by Iran With China

  • An agreement on the reconfiguration of Iran’sArak reactor has been signed for the first time by China and Iran and its main was the reconstruction of the Arak heavy-water reactor as a part of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) deals which Tehran.

  • The 24th Arabian Travel Market begins in Dubai and will focus on encompasses travelling for adventure, culture, heritage, wellness, and theme parks.

47th Foundation Day of HUDCO inaugurated by Venkaiah Naidu

  • Commemoration of HUDCO’s 47th Foundation Day inaugurated by M Venkaiah Naidu  in New Delhi on April 25, 2017 as HUDCO  completed 47 years of existence in providing housing and basic infrastructure across the country as the Centre and States have to effectively engage the private sector to achieve the mission of affordable housing for all by 2022.

Mumbai and Elephanta Island linked by India’s first sea ropeway

  • Mumbai Port Trust announced plans to construct India’s first and longest sea ropeway to connect Mumbai mainland with famous Elephanta Island in Arabain Sea on April 24, 2017.
  • Elephanta Island is accessible only by ferries which take around 60 minutes to cover the distance of 10 km starting from Gateway of India as of now and The8-km long ropeway connecting Elephanta Island with Mumbai will begin from Sewri (Eastern Edge of South Mumbai) and the one-way ride through ropeway will take about 40 minutes.

Aadhaar-like UID number mooted by Centre for cows

  • Central Govt. has submitted an expert panel report in the Supreme Court on April 24, 2017 which suggests tagging of cows with Aadhar-like unique identification (UID) number in order to ensure better protection for them and check smuggling.
  • A bench comprising Chief Justice of India JS Khehar and Justice DY Chandrachud had the report submitted before them as the Central Govt. is also considering providing shelter homes and discouraging the auctioning of cattle as per the report.

  • Union Minister for Social Justice & Empowerment, Mr. Thaawarchand Gehlotin augurates A Documentary Photo exhibition “The Paths We Walk” on April 24, 2017 in New Delhi which was organised by The National Trust under Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment in collaboration with Society for Child Development, New Delhi and it is intended to tackle negative myths of disability and employment of persons with Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Intellectual Disability and Multiple Disabilities.

First re-insurer to set up base in GIFT City comes in the form of GIC Re

  • GIC Re has become thefirst re-insurer company to open an office at India’s first International Financial Services Centre (IFSC) at Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City) and it provides reinsurance support to life and non-life insurers in India and abroad and had given recognition of the national re insurer in 2001.
