1. India Water Week 2019

President Kovind has inaugurated the 6th India Water Week 2019 in New Delhi.
Theme: ‘Water cooperation: Coping with 21st Century Challenges’.
Jal Jeevan Mission initiative of Government, that envisages offering clean drinking water to all households in India.
Since 2012, the Jal Shakti ministry has been organizing India Water Week as an international event to primarily focus on water-related issues

2. Gauri Lankesh Memorial Award

NDTV’s Senior Journalist Ravish Kumar has been awarded with the first Gauri Lankesh Memorial Award in Bengaluru.
Gauri Lankesh was an Indian journalist-turned-activist from Bangalore, Karnataka. She worked as an editor in Lankesh Patrike, a Kannada weekly.

4. Committee for creating ‘social stock exchanges’

SEBI has set-up a committee to suggest the structures and norms/regulations for Social Stock Exchange.
It is under the chairmanship of Ishaat Hussain (Director at SBI Foundation and former Finance Director at Tata Sons).
‘Social Stock Exchange’ is to facilitate listing and fund-raising by social enterprises as well as voluntary organisations.
The Securities and Exchange Board of India is the regulator for the securities market in India. It was established in 1988 and given statutory powers on 12 April 1992 through the SEBI Act, 1992.

5. ‘Climate Warriors’ Campaign

Actress Bhumi Pednekar has launched a pan India campaign ‘Climate Warriors’.
Climate Warrior is a concerted social media and online initiative which will be used to focus on awareness building and to become more conscious towards climate and environment-friendly life choices.

1. Exercise ‘Tiger Triumph’

India and USA will host first ever tri-services exercise ‘Tiger Triumph’ at Visakhapatnam and Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh.
The U.S. is a country of 50 states covering a vast swath of North America, with Alaska in the northwest and Hawaii extending the nation’s presence into the Pacific Ocean.

2. ’21st Century Icon Awards’

Singer Sonu Nigam was awarded ‘Magnificent Performing Arts Award 2019’ at the ’21st Century Icon Awards’ held in London.
Sonu Nigam is an Indian playback singer, composer, live performer, host, and actor. He sings predominantly in Hindi and Kannada language films.

3. First Australian city to legalise marijuana

Australian capital Canberra has become the first city in the country to legalise, possessing and growing marijuana for personal use.
Canberra is the capital city of Australia. Founded following the federation of the colonies of Australia as the seat of government for the new nation, it is Australia’s largest inland city and the eighth-largest city overall.

2. Bharti Airtel with Bharti AXA Life

Bharti Airtel has tied up with Bharti AXA Life Insurance to offer Mobile Pre-paid Plan with insurance protection cover to users.
Bharti Airtel Limited, also known as Airtel, is an Indian global telecommunications services company based in Delhi, India. It operates in 18 countries across South Asia and Africa, and also in the Channel Islands.

3. Paisalo Digital with Bank of Maharashtra

Paisalo Digital has inked a co-origination loan agreement with Bank of Maharashtra.
Paisalo Digital Limited’s singular aim is to provide financial solutions like term loans and working capital to entrepreneurs and making their dreams a reality.
Bank of Maharashtra is a major public sector bank in India. Government of India holds 87.74% of the total shares. The bank has 15 million customers across the length and breadth of the country served through 1897 branches as of 5 April 2016.

RBI has approved the re-appointment of Shyam Srinivasan as Managing Director and CEO of Federal Bank.
