National News
1. SBI and World Bank Collaboration
- The State Bank of India (SBI) secured a $165 million credit line from the World Bank to support rooftop solar projects in India.
- This funding focuses on grid-connected rooftop solar photovoltaic systems in the residential and institutional sectors.
- SBI’s current foreign currency loans, totaling $2.3 billion, are sourced from international bodies like the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, and Germany’s KfW.
- As of September 2023, SBI implemented a policy mandating rooftop solar installations for residential projects financed through its climate action funds.
- Additionally, SBI signed significant credit lines with the European Investment Bank and the German Development Bank to further climate action initiatives.
- The bank reported a 9.13% increase in consolidated net profit for the September quarter.
2. Bandhan Bank’s Role in Assam e-GRAS
- Bandhan Bank has been appointed to manage revenue collections for Assam’s e-GRAS platform, enhancing digital tax and non-tax payments.
- The Assam e-GRAS portal collected nearly Rs 16,000 crore in the fiscal year 2022-23.
3. IFSCA’s Expert Committee on Transition Finance
- The IFSCA established an expert committee to develop a regulatory framework for green and sustainable debt securities.
- This committee will advise the government on policy related to taxation, legal, and regulatory matters for ESG initiatives.
- IFSCA’s initiatives have led to significant listings in ESG-labelled debt securities and green/sustainable loans.
4. Axis Bank and American Express Partnership
- Axis Bank partnered with American Express to launch the Axis Bank Privilege Credit Card, offering customers access to global benefits.
5. Kotak Mahindra Life Insurance’s T.U.L.I.P Product
- Kotak Mahindra Life Insurance introduced T.U.L.I.P, a Term with Unit-Linked Insurance Plan, offering combined life coverage and critical illness protection.
6. PFRDA and NPS Contributions via UPI QR Code
- The PFRDA now allows NPS subscribers to contribute via UPI QR codes, simplifying and streamlining the contribution process.
