- Diksha Dagar, an Indian golf player, marked her second victory at the Ladies European Tour (LET) during the Tipsport Czech Ladies Open 2023.
- The finale witnessed her triumph over Trichat Cheenglab of Thailand.
- Originally from Jhajjar, Haryana, Dagar earned her first LET title in Cape Town at the 2019 South African Women’s Open.
- After Aditi Ashok, she is the second Indian female golfer to win two or more LET titles.
- She also represented India at the Tokyo 2022 Olympics.

2. Haryana’s Jind District Prepares for India’s First Hydrogen-Powered Train
- Haryana’s Jind district is gearing up to launch India’s inaugural hydrogen-powered train by the end of 2023.
- The administration has indicated nearing completion of the plant set to extract hydrogen from water.
- The proposed eight-bogie hydrogen-fueled trains promise a more sustainable mode of travel.
- In contrast to these, the currently operational trains are powered by diesel and electricity.
- Currently, only Germany operates hydrogen-powered trains.
3. India Joins Hands with the US in the Artemis Accord
- India has confirmed its collaboration with the USA by signing the Artemis Accords, targeting broader horizons in space exploration, including Mars.
- The Artemis Accord, led by the US, is dedicated to returning humans to the moon by 2025 and to ensure sustainable lunar activities beyond the Apollo missions.
- This partnership paves the way for both countries to embark on joint space ventures.
- By signing the accord, India has become its 27th signatory.

- REC Limited has committed to fund the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) with a sizeable amount of Rs. 3,045 crores.
- This funding is dedicated to the development of metro routes as part of Bangalore Metro’s Phase-II project.
- This endeavor by the Phase-II Namma Metro project is set to streamline commuting and reduce traffic congestion in the busy city of Bengaluru.

7. LIC Introduces New Plan ‘Dhan Vridhhi’
- The Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) has unveiled a new scheme named ‘Dhan Vridhhi’.
- This plan is a closed-end, single premium, non-linked, non-participating individual life insurance offering, which combines both protection and savings.
- In addition to providing a lump sum upon maturity, it ensures financial support for beneficiaries in the unfortunate event of the policyholder’s passing.
- The policy starts with a minimum guaranteed sum of Rs 1,25,000.
8. IOB Collaborates with Tamil Nadu Initiative for SHGs
- The Indian Overseas Bank (IOB) and the Tamil Nadu State Rural Livelihood Mission (TNSRLM) have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding.
- This agreement is designed to facilitate financial support for eligible Self Help Groups (SHGs) in Tamil Nadu through IOB.
- The primary goal is to increase SHGs’ access to financial resources, enabling them to initiate business activities, expand their entrepreneurial ventures, and contribute to the state’s economic growth.
9. World Bank Announces Relief for Disaster-Afflicted Nations
- Ajay Banga, the President of the World Bank, announced support measures for countries affected by natural disasters, which include temporary suspension of debt repayments.
- This initiative follows the International Monetary Fund’s success in allocating $100 billion in special drawing rights for vulnerable nations.
- This significant announcement came during the “Summit for a New Global Financial Pact”, which aims to provide enhanced financial aid during crises for less wealthy nations and reduce their debt burdens.
