1. Sharada Peeth Corridor

  • Pakistan has approved Sharada Peeth Corridor proposal for Hindu Pilgrims from India
  • Sharada Peeth is an abandoned Hindu temple and ancient centre of learning in the Pakistani administered territory of Azad Kashmir. It is dedicated to the Hindu goddess of learning, Sharada.

2. Smart Garbage Bins

  • Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL) has launched smart garbage bins made of stainless steel.
  • It will be able to send a signal to the garbage collection vehicle about the ‘fill-up’ position of the bin, aiding better cleaning and lower human intervention.
  • Steel Authority of India Limited is an Indian state-owned steel making company based in New Delhi, India. It is a public sector undertaking, was incorporated on 24 January 1973.

3. Boeing CH-47 Chinook

  • Four Heavy Lift CH-47F (I) Chinook Helicopters were inducted in the Indian Air Force.
  • It is a part of Indo-US deal inked in September 2015 for the purchase of 15 Chinooks by India.
  • The Boeing CH-47 Chinook is an American twin-engine, tandem rotor, heavy-lift helicopter developed by American rotorcraft company Vertol and manufactured by Boeing Vertol. The CH-47 is among the heaviest lifting Western helicopters.

International News

1. World Purple day

  • Epilepsy Awareness Day or commonly known as World Purple Day is observed on March 26.
  • Purple Day is a global grassroots event formed with the intention to increase worldwide awareness of epilepsy, and to dispel common myths and fears of this neurological disorder.
  • Epilepsy is a central nervous system (neurological) disorder in which brain activity becomes abnormal, causing seizures or periods of unusual behaviour, sensations, and sometimes loss of awareness. Anyone can develop epilepsy.

2. Independence Day of Bangladesh

  • The Independence Day of Bangladesh, which takes place on 26 March, is a national holiday.
  • It commemorates the country’s declaration of independence from Pakistan in the late hours of 25 March 1971, by the undisputed leader of the Nation Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

  • International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Slavery and the Transatlantic Slave Trade is a United Nations international observance designated in 2007 to be marked on 25 March every year.
  • Theme :- ‘Remember Slavery: The Power of the Arts for Justice’.

1. New MD and CEO of Tata Coffee

  • Tata Coffee has appointed Chacko Purackal Thomas as the managing director and chief executive officer.
  • He will replace Sanjiv Sarin.

2. Apple with Goldman Sachs

  • Apple has partnered with Goldman Sachs and Mastercard and announced a new credit card called Apple Card.
  • The partnership with Goldman Sachs and Mastercard will help Apple for payment handling and processing.
  • The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc., is an American multinational investment bank and financial services company headquartered in New York City.
  • Mastercard Incorporated is an American multinational financial services corporation headquartered in the Mastercard International Global Headquarters in Purchase, New York, United States. The Global Operations Headquarters is located in O’Fallon, Missouri, United States, a municipality of St. Charles County, Missouri.

3. Asian Rich List 2019

  • Hinduja family has topped the Asian Rich List 2019 with an estimated net worth of £25.2 billion.
  • The Hinduja Group is an Indian conglomerate company headquartered in London, United Kingdom. They are involved in a wide range of activities including foundries, import export, trading, motor vehicles, banking, call centres and healthcare.
  • ArcelorMittal Chairman Lakshmi Mittal and his son Aditya Mittal are ranked 2nd with £11.2 billion wealth.
  • Lakshmi Niwas Mittal is an Indian steel magnate, based in the United Kingdom. He is the chairman and CEO of ArcelorMittal, the world’s largest steelmaking company. Mittal owns 38% of ArcelorMittal and holds an 11% stake in Queens Park Rangers F.C.
  • S P Lohia (Petrochemicals) is on the third place with £5.8 billion.
  • Sri Prakash Lohia is an Indian-born Indonesian billionaire businessman, and the founder and chairman of Indorama Corporation, a diversified petrochemical and textile company. Lohia hails from India but has spent the majority of his professional life in Indonesia since 1974.

  • Oslo has become first city in the world to introduce Wireless Electric Car Charging Stations.
  • Norway :- Capital: Oslo || Currency: Norwegian krone

1. AIBA President resigns

  • Amateur International Boxing Federation (AIBA) President Gafur Rahimov announced his resignation.
  • The International Boxing Association or AIBA, originally the Association Internationale de Boxe Amateur, is a sport organization that sanctions amateur boxing matches and awards world and subordinate championships.
  • Abbreviation: AIBA || Founded: 1946 || Headquarters: Lausanne, Switzerland || Affiliations: International Olympic Committee || Type of business: Sport’s governing body

2. ITTF Challenge Plus

  • The Seamaster 2019 ITTF Challenge Plus commonly called Oman Open table tennis held in Muscat, Oman.
  • G Sathyan of India was defeated by Mattias flack of Sweden in the men’s Singles Semi-finals, G Sathyan settled for a bronze medal.
  • Archana Kamath of India bagged U-21 silver medal in women’s category.

3. Conor McGregor announced his retirement

  • Irish Mixed Martial Art fighter Conor McGregor has announced his retirement.
  • Conor Anthony McGregor is an Irish retired professional mixed martial artist and boxer. He is the former Ultimate Fighting Championship featherweight and lightweight champion.
  • Mixed martial arts is a full-contact combat sport that allows striking and grappling, both standing and on the ground, using techniques from various combat sports and martial arts. The first documented use of the term mixed martial arts was in a review of UFC 1 by television critic Howard Rosenberg in 1993.
