1. Visakhapatnam Railway Station Attains “Green Railway Station Certificate”
- The East Coast Railway zone in Visakhapatnam has been awarded the Platinum “Green Railway Station Certification” by the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC).
- Visakhapatnam Railway Station is amongst the select few to receive this recognition, achieving an environmental score of 87 out of a potential 100.
- The Environment Directorate of the Indian Railways collaborated with the IGBC to establish the Green Railway Station Rating System, which evaluates aspects like water conservation, waste management, energy efficiency, reduced reliance on non-renewable resources, and individual health and wellbeing.

2. U.S. Vice President Joe Biden Appoints Julie Turner as Special Envoy for Human Rights in North Korea
- The role, vacant since 2017, is being filled amid heightened discussions about human rights while addressing Pyongyang’s nuclear weapons programme.
- Julie Turner currently heads the East Asia and Pacific sector in the State Department’s Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labour.
- Turner has over 16 years of experience in the East Asia and Pacific division, primarily concentrating on advancing human rights in North Korea.

- By 2028, the tourism industry is projected to grow by 67%, reaching $125 billion. India hopes to attract 30.5% of the world’s tourists by then, generating $56 billion in revenue.
