1. Harit Ratna Award 2019

  • N Kumar has been conferred ‘Harit Ratna Award 2019’ by the All India Agricultural Students Association.
  • N Kumar is the Vice-Chancellor of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University.
  • He was awarded for dissemination of Rs 30-crore entrepreneurship project in agri-business and for motivating students to the agriculture sector in the State.

2. Procurement of Indigenous Equipment

  • Defence Acquisition Council has approved the procurement of Indigenous Equipment valued at Rs 5100 crore.
  • These indigenous equipment have been designed by Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) for the Indian Army.

1. Chairmanship of FEMBoSA for 2020

  • The Chief Election Commissioner of India Sunil Arora assumes the Chairmanship of The Forum of the Election Management Bodies of South Asia (FEMBoSA) for 2020.
  • He took the chairmanship from KM Nurul Huda who is the present Chief Election Commissioner of Bangladesh.

2. Election Commission of India to ink agreement with EC of Tunisia and Papua New Guinea

  • Election Commission of India has received cabinets approval to draft agreement with Election Commission of Tunisia and Papua New Guinea.

4. Chairmanship of Group of 77

  • Guyana has taken over the chairmanship of G77 from Palestine will be formally elected chair at the annual G77 ministerial meeting.
  • The Group of 77 at the United Nations is a coalition of 135 developing nations, designed to promote its members’ collective economic interests and create an enhanced joint negotiating capacity in the United Nations.

1. Rower Dattu Baban Bhokanal

  • Ban over Rower Dattu Bhokanal is lifted by Rowing Federation of India.

2. Suspension on Archery Association of India

  • The World Archery has lifted the suspension on Archery Association of India.
  • It has allowed the Indian Archers to represent India in the upcoming International tournaments.
  • The World Archery Federation is the governing body of the sport of archery. It is based in Lausanne, Switzerland. It is composed of 156 national federations and other archery associations, and is recognised by the International Olympic Committee.

3. Kobe Bryant passes away

  • National Basketball Association legend Kobe Bryant passed away.
  • Kobe Bean Bryant was an American professional basketball player. A shooting guard, Bryant played his entire 20-season career in the National Basketball Association with the Los Angeles Lakers. He entered the NBA directly from high school and won five NBA championships.
