1. Kandla port renamed as Deendayal Port.

  • The Kandla Port, one of the 12 major ports in India has been named after Hindutva Icon Pt. Deendayal as Deendayal port.
  • Kandla Port, located on the Gulf of Kutch in Gujarat is one of the twelve major ports in India.

2. Mumbai Airport security rated Best in world.

  • The security of Chatrapati Shivaji International Airport(CSIA), Mumbai has been recognized as the best security in this domain by a global quality rating agency.
  • Interestingly, security to the Mumbai Airport is provided by the Central Industrial Security Force(CISF).

3. First ever India Mobile Congress launched in New Delhi.

  • The Minister of Communication Shri Manoj Sinha launched Department of Tele-Communication’s(DoT) first ever India Mobile Congress 2017 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.

International News

1. World Tourism Day: 27 September.

  • The World Tourism Day is being celebrated across the world on 27th September.The theme for World Tourism Day 2017 is ‘Sustainable Tourism- a tool for Development’.
  • Its purpose is to foster awareness among the International community of the importance of tourism and its social, cultural, economic, political value.

2. India launched campaign ‘Incredible India’ in Egypt.

  • India launched a campaign to woo Egyptian Travelers and make them aware of magnificent holiday options in the country.
  • The month long ‘Incredible India’ campaign has been organized by the Embassy of India in Cairo.

3. Maharashtra signs MoU with South Korea.

  • The Maharashtra Government has signed a MoU with south Korea for increased co-operation in infrastructure projects like development of smart cities, roads, airports and metros.
  • This MoU will help with implementation strategy, legal systems, policies, technologie and information in infrastructure development.

Business News

1. India ranks 40th in WEF’s Global Competitiveness Index.

  • India remains the most competitive country in South Asia, appearing at No. 40 in the Global Competitiveness ranking of 137 countries by the World Economic Forum(WEF).
  • Switzerland is ranked 1st in the index followed by US and Singapore.

2. Infosys senior VP and head of technology Navin Budhiraja resigns.

  • His resignation from Infosys does not come as a complete surprise, given that a number of Vishal Sikka loyalists, who had followed him from SAP AG, were expected to resign
  • Navin Budhiraja put in his papers over the weekend—making him at least the 12th former SAP executive to have left Infosys since March last year.

3. Dubai starts testing world’s first self-flying taxis.

  • Dubai has started testing world’s first two-seater self-flying taxi called Autonomous Air Taxi(AAT) for transportation.
  • The AAT supplied by German manufacturer volcopter was unmanned and hovered 200 meteres above the ground in the test flight.

1. ICC announces major changes in Cricket rules.

  • The International Cricket Council(ICC) has announced the changes to the existing template of how the sport of cricket is played.
  • Headquarter of ICC is in Dubai.
